Passed by them on my way to the NAPA, my Benchmade needed retuning. They were very friendly, less than 15 mins and only $5. Shaving sharp, even the serrated edges. Good folks.

The Nellas are proud of the bayonets they're now producing to Canadian Armed Forces specifications. "They're better than the American bayonets because we use a stainless steel blade instead of a carbon steel blade," said Gus.

I was referring to the idea that stainless is a better material for a weapon than carbon steel.

Now there's a debate with no easy winner. Harder blades keep an edge longer, but, they're more difficult to sharpen. OTOH, softer blades are much quicker and easier to sharpen, but, don't hold an edge well. See 9 v 45, Eothing v Aimpoint, blonde v redhead, mish v doggy.

What's more important in a bayonet? One that's holds its edge but snaps off in the BG, or one that needs to be re-sharpened on occasion but can be used more than once?

Sharpness doesn't matter much when your doing more stabbing than slashing..

The pieces of shit we used Back In The Day (M7s) could not be sharpened.

Thanks for the reference Tweak! I had to improvise my CRKT as a screw driver and nicked an edge recently.

Well, I suppose that's one point of view...

Yeah, not the best material for a bayonet, as stainless is more brittle, therefore more prone to breakage than regular high carbon. Not the best trait for a bayonet to have...................

And Tweak is right...............what the hell do the Canucks need bayonets for? Then again, some of 'em have kicked some serious ass over in the 'stan, I hear.
