Crappy weekend. - AR15.COM

Started off saturday I took the 250 out to the ORV park and screwed about on it for a few hours. On my way home a friend asked if I wanted to head out fishing with him and another of our friends, I say yes, so we get our shit together and head out to other friends house. We get out there and find out we need to kill some time till the sitter for his kids shows up, so me and first friend decide to go grab the cr50 and the cr70 and take them around the neigborhood. I'd been on the 50 for all of 15 seconds and I shifted into second gear and the bike wheelied like a monster. Tried to put my feet down so I could run behind it, instantly heard a loud wet SNAP and hit the ground. Looked down at my left leg and it was bent to the side at a litle more than a 45 degree angle.

I grabbed my leg and pushed it away from me and straightened it out, then got loaded up into friends subaru imprezzaulance. Got to the hospital and they told me both bones in my lower leg broken (duh) and that I would need surgery.

Got an 18 inch titanium rod inserted into my leg thru my kneecap yesterday :-(

Kolat, I'm really sorry that you got such a painful injury - but - you have to admit that quote is funny.

For real heartfelt sympathy, you should cross post this on Thumper Talk.

Seriously, if you have health insurance and you told the doctors anything about this happening on a motor vehicle, you can expect to get an affidavit from your insurance company in the mail threatening to withhold payment unless you rat out your buddy that loaned you the bike. The insurance company will sue your buddy to try to recover the medical expenses.

I NEVER get hurt on my bike. NEVER EVER. (I am kind of a klutz working in the yard though...)

Ouchie, wishing you all a speedy recovery!

After seeing this weekend's happening, it made me think twice (maybe three times) getting a trail bike/rider.

An offroad Jeep might be the better choice.

It's making me really think about selling my cbr and just keeping my 250 for hunting. spending 6 weeks off of my foot is going to suck big time, at least now that I'll be working from home for the next month and a half that means I'll save lots of $ on gas from commuting.

Damn... Maybe all WaHTF members should go back to handling FIREARMS rather than ORVs, it appears to be much safer!

Come to think of it I had my glock with me while I was riding the 250 at the ORV park, but I did'nt have the glock with me when I was on the 50 because I left it at home due to not wanting to lose it in another boating accident.

Video from the hospital them taking me from the admitting room to get xrays done. Xray guy bumps into the door frame, then nails it hard. Barely had any pain meds in me at that time.
