Believe it or not, I am bordered by the river and have only seen 2 deer(one time both together) on this side of the river in 15 years.  Now elk are a different story, I usually have satellite or herd bulls come through in March or April most years.  The rabbits may have a rough go of it this year though.

We just erected (heh heh) a 6' cyclone fence around the deer feeder garden this spring...
It won't stop them, but every home should have a re-education camp....  Now for the gun towers...

They are nothing but really big cloven hoved rats and if prepared correctly, somewhat tasty (I wouldnt say burning them inside a woodstove is the way to go though). Mrs Zabbu thought they were soooo cute till they started munching on her prized roses. Long story short though, I could rope you a couple, bring them down, turn them loose. Mrs Zabbu could put a big pink ribbon and bow on it so you could thank me everytime you see the poor dears.

Well since it was planted yesterday and today.  I am currently growing nothing.

Wide variety in there.  Where the hell can I get some chick peas?

The tractor had nothing to do with the garden, I tilled it by with 5 HP tiller.

I might need to change that next year.

Gonna start two this year, two small ones.  One for the deer (Biologic), the other for us.  The deer garden will be on the county side of the city limits (aka our property line).

Pics coming later today or tomorrow.  I was going to go out and take some yesterday, but didn't get to it.

I've got cauliflower, brocolli, lettuce (lettoochi, as a Belgian friend once pronounced it), radishes of course, onions (for onion rings at the LCR) peas and beans coming up right now... Watermelon, squash, pumpkins and a few other things are in but not sprouting yet.  I think I need to till the area for corn this weekend, so I can get it in the ground around the end of the month.

We planted a couple cherry trees to replace a couple that are coming down this year, and some grape vines.  I think I want to replace a couple of the old apple trees in the yard, too.  And no, I'm keeping the wood from those trees - gonna chip it up for smokin' stuff with next year!

Too bad there aren't any buds on those plants.  They must all be males.  That ain't worth a damn!

My first garden. Dang dog walked all over the corn, so I made a quick fence. Green onions upfront. Got potatoes and carrots in pots inside waiting for a transplant.

Mine is only part in as of today.
Yellow, red and sweet onions, peas, beens. beets and purple kohlrabi, still more to plant.

Netting for the peas.

Buster says  "There will be NO stinkin rabbit or deer problems this year."

it’s a small garden, but it suites our needs; it’s been fertilized, tilled twice, and is ready to be sown.

Haven't been able to make time to get mine tilled yet.  Couldn't have planted any earlier anyway.  We had a freeze last week.

For Mother's day, we did get three fruit trees:
A cherry with 3 different varieties, an apple with 5 varieties, and an italian plum.

The cherry and apple are in.  The plum has to wait awhile.

Still too wet to till

yeah, I know what ya mean … as we’d normally have the garden in already; but what with the late winter, unseasonably cold temperatures, and the recent rains hasn’t permitting the seeding.

on another note: the grass is really looking good this year; as my Wife hand raked the entire front and back yard with a ‘thatching rake’ in Feb. and April … it’s never looked so good!

Here's how it looks now,

Corn is planted, cukes, peas, pole beans, walla walla's and tomatos are in.
Still need Parsley, Basil , eggplant and Jalepenos. Those vines starting up the arbor are Centennial hops.

Nothing like following Odt and Doberdude.

Radishes, carrots, 'taters, onions - half the gardern is wildflowers, the wife got in before I could plant...This isn't even to supplement our food budget, just something to show the kids how to do.

I said I would never do this...

< yeah we did that > and if you look closely at what my Wife is doing with the five-gallon bucket full of black-soil ... she’s applying a special blend of fertilized potting soil mixture to each of the rows, just prior to covering.
