Where do I find one of those handydandy trigger/hammer pin keepers I keep seeing?

You know, I've been handling AR-15/M-16s for almost 20 years now, and have never witnessed one of the pins drift. Are the hammer and trigger springs properly installed?

There's a good chance they're not.  During assembly I didn't pay attention to which direction the cutouts/indentations went.  Which way is correct?

Would it still work if it was backward?  I've shot it several times with no problem, aside from trigger pin creep.  Does it matter which way the pins go in?

It'll work, you might get some light strikes, but your trigger pin will walk out.

building an AR, step-by-step

Yeah, the legs from the hammer spring rest on top of the trigger pin and keep it from walking.

Yeah, I think I put a buddy's lower together the same way, incorrect that is.    I'll need to give him a call. The best way to learn is by f$#%ing something up.
