I always thought it was because interest was low and one close-up camera covered all the goings-on on the senate and house floor(s). Seems it's .gov who thinks that the one boring ass camera angle is all we need to see.
With our society's current addiction to the TV, it seems as though more thorough coverage may get some more people interested in what and how things happen. I am sure it would be an eye opener for most all who are interesed including myself.
