Wow the server room has really grown Mac. I remember when it was much smaller than that.
But for the love of all that is holy...... Have someone fix the patch panels. |

Let's see... - 1 DB (database) that is 380 gigs, replicated to 9 servers, so that's 10 copies right there, plus other copies for testing, development, ETC... - 1 DB that is 400 gigs... - Many other DB's ranging from 500 megs to multiple gigs... - Backups of all of these DB's... That's just my small portion. There's still email, file servers, and other various odds and ends to be stored. Oh, and porn. There's the hidden stash of porn. That takes up at least 2 TB. |

What? No pictures of your re-badged Overland NEO series Tape Libraries? Those would be the HP & Compaq-badged ones. No pictures of your fine Data Domain DD400 series Restorer? I got to FF a couple of those disks when they went TU. Too bad someone was busy bouncing on hotel furniture. |

Interesting data center. Why do you use SCSI instead of Fibre Channel, or better, 10Gb Ethernet? All that storage would flow much better over a 10Gb fiber backbone.
No offense, but those cross-connect racks need a serious overhaul. It's amazing how many IT folks think about the "cool" gear such as servers, switches, routers, storage, etc but forget to pay attention to the connectivity. Mirror the equipment ports in those racks using trunk cables straight from the equipment cabinets and be a happy camper. Or, if you plan to grow your Data Center you can also install some PODs at the end of each aisle and run the trunks from the PODs to the main cross connect point. Your life will be much easier. Organizing the cables under your raised-floor will also help the cold air flow to the cabinets to cool the equipment. |

Must of been nice to have an Armored Hummvee in Kuwait.(WTF?) No wonder it took so long to get our scrap metal gypsy mobiles replaced. |

I wasn't in Kuwait. I was at that, "undisclosed location." that I won't mention even though it was sort of mentioned in the website when it was still up. They weren't our humvees, they were part of the post equipment, one was actually an XM1114. You guys were using plywood to built up the roofs to hold the machine guns because they were ours (the brigade's) and who thought we'd ever be using them as gun trucks in a mech unit? When the mob. order first came down, we had a couple techs get some steel and tested it against 7.62 and were willing to make enough for our batallion, but were told no. |

Sorry dude, that sucks. But don't worry about it too much. They are considering sending more people home. I might be back up there soon. Hows the weather up there right now? Chris |
