Today I went down to visit the Clark County Sheriff's Office to apply for a CWP. I was met by a very courteous sheriff's deputy. I filled out the application, payed my 60 bucks and was finger printed. I should have my permit within a month. A very good experience.

Reasons a CPL application can be denied:

Felony conviction.
DV conviction.
IIRC a history of involuntary commitment to an institution or drug use.
Or he is under 21.

If he made it through the paperwork without a big "oh shit I think I am screwed" it's a safe bet he's gonna get it.

One nice thing for me is that I live in UT while I go to school, but Utah has a reciprocity law with Washington CCWs. So, I have my WA permit, and carry more-or-less every day here in Utah. I love having a cheap and easy permit. $1 per month for the ability to carry almost everywhere--I like it.

I was at an new member orientation meeting for a range the other night. One of the gentlemen doing the orientation gave a short presentation on the CPL and casually asked how many of us had one. About 70% of us held up a hand. ALL the women there did!!!  Ain't gun people fun!
