Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Need range that will let me shoot in Erie, PA area

So I'm not from PA, I'm going down that way in April for a road trip to see an old friend and she wants to go shooting(she hasn't ever gone). I don't know any places to safely shoot .22 LR(and maybe some .38 not sure). Do you need a registered range or would a gravel pit work?   I googled ranges near Erie and it looks like everything is a "members" club.
