You might want to check out the White Deer & Watsontown area for housing. I'm sure the taxes would be lower but not a concern if renting now. Also the shale/gas drilling has affected the rent, so the rent will be higher the more north you are. I'm 9 miles west of Lewisburg.
The closest/largest gun club to Allenwood would be Keystone Sportsmen (Monthly IDPA, ATA, High Power(200yrd) & Multi-Gun(2-3/yr). mince |

I think Reptiland seals the deal. This will be your best duty station ever.
ETA On a serious note I am not familiar with that area, but PA is a solid state. It looks like it's pretty far out there. If you like the outdoors it seems like you are in an alright spot. |

Well, two weeks from yesterday we begin our road trip from Texas to Lewisburg. Don't have any idea on the forecasted road conditions yet, just hope it does not get bad. Plan on taking it real slow, I'll be pulling a 30 ft. trailer. Wish me luck, and if ya'll don't mind, please let me know if any blizzards pop up in your local forecasts. And yes, we did visit Reptiland whle there on a house-hunting trip.......Take Care.

If you pickup I-80 in Ohio, be careful going up and down the grade around (I think it's called) Brady's Leap. Once in PA, watch out coming down the mountains around DuBois, and then past Clearfield, between Snow Shoe and Bellefonte, and again past Lamar and Lock Haven. If the weather is crap, also try to avoid I-99 / 220 between Pittsburgh and Altoona. Best of luck to you.
