In Pa. how do you change your party from Republican to Independent?   And what would the consquences be?   Could I still vote for Republicans in the primary? Democrats?

I don't know if I want to do this or not, but it is something that I have been thinking about since some of the republicans voted for the stimulius and some of the other stuff lately.

PA is a closed primary State meaning if you change to Independent you could only vote for the independent candidate(s) in the Primary.  You could vote for whom ever you want in the General.  Due to this limitation, I would suggest you reconsider as you will be left without any true voice in the primary election.

I second LastDefender. The primary is where you have a true chance at voicing your opinion. Changing to independent removes your vote from the primary.

Some of us participated in Operation Chaos during the Democratic primaries.

There are a few ways to do this:

1.  Easiest way is to change party affiliation when you renew your driver's license.

2.  Second easiest way is to go to certain PA gov agencies and do it.

3.  Otherwise, if you wanna do it by mail, I think this website can help you out.

Edit:  I registered (L) after leaving the (R) party in the late 1990s, but went (D) during Operation Chaos, and am back to (L).

So YOU are one of the ones that gave us BO instead of Mrs Clinton.

Just Kidding.   I don't know which would have been better (or should I say worse).

Anyway, thanks for the advice.   I guess I will just keep the (R) behind my name––-at least for awhile.   Then again, I would REALLY REALLY REALLY like to vote against mr. Spector.

What is Operation Chaos?

If I remember correctly, It was a "campaign" by Rush Limbaugh to cause chaos in the Democratic Party.   People not in the Democratic party were supposed to vote for the Democratic candidates (mostly Hillary) in the primaries to help skew the vote and disrupt Hillary's chances of becoming Pres.

If this is correct, IMHO I think it worked TOO well!

Opposite. Chaos was to get people to vote FOR thunder thighs.
