The meteor crater is well worth visiting and Winslow is not too far to combine visits. The train ride from the Grand Canyon to Williams is fun and I always do that when family visits.
Sedona is breathtaking every time and has significant new age weirdness. Your aura will thank you. Take 89A south through Oak Creek canyon to Sedona. Vey nice drive. Go fast, make the kids nauseous. Old Town Cottonwood is worth a couple of hours and can be combined with Jerome. Jerome is a weird little town on the side of a mountain with a ton of quirky shops and such. There is a train attraction in Clarkdale along the Verde river. I have no info on that. If you like, continue on 89A down the mountain through Prescott Valley and stop in Prescott. The courthouse square and Whiskey Row are worth a couple of hours. If you want to avoid I-17 you can stay on 89(no A) south down to Wickenburg then east to Phoenix. I know little of Phoenix other than it's a big city with heat and very heavy traffic. Good Travels |

You don't say when your trip is going to be and it could make a real difference. Summer heat is brutal in the Phoenix area (less so in Tucson). If you are in the Prescott area around July 4th don't miss the World's Oldest Rodeo. We haven't gone in the last couple of years but it's always been a whole lot of fun. BTW, there's a statue in Winslow dedicated to the song where people usually stop to take a picture.

North Rim opens in May usually, so unless snowpack is insane you should be OK. Stop at the Jacob Lake Inn on the way there for some awesome cookies.

Tucson has Kartchner Caverns State Park and the Pima Air and Space Museum. Also, the Titan II Missile Museum.
There's a McDonald's on the East side with a big T-rex statue thingy outside.

I haven't rode it in many years, but you can take the Grand Canyon Rail from Williams out to the canyon. If you come back out for Christmas they turn it into the Polar Express which was a huge hit for my kids when they were young.

Jerome is a cool town, Petrified forest is along your route. Id skip the crater its just a hole in the ground. Monument Valley may still be closed but Valley of the Gods is in the same area just down the road.

Not sure which way you're going home, but I'll add in Bisbee & Tombstone. Bisbee has the Queen Mine Tour, along with seeing the Town. And Tombstone will offer the the Old West experience, including re-enactment shows like the shootout at the OK Corral. And they're only about a 25 minute drive from each other.
I would also highly recommend "Old Tucson", but it's now closed.

Sounds like a great trip.
State Rt 88 between Roosevelt and Phoenix is closed indefinitely. Mesa has an excellent natural history museum with a strong emphasis on Dinosaurs! https://www.arizonamuseumofnaturalhistory.org I always recommend Walnut Canyon National Monument just outside of Flagstaff for cool hike and up-close look at native dwellers. Montezuma’s Castle is also an easy stop and hike. |

It might be closed, but Page has a dam tour where you go inside of Parker dam for a very reasonable price. Antelope canyon is on tribal land and has some hoops to jump through ($) is neat if it's open. It books out in advance. 4 corners is on tribal land and might be affected by the current situation.
Eta Glen canyon dam, not Parker. Damn dams.

I'll just say that every suggestion already posted is good. One thing to remember around the Flagstaff area and especially Walnut Canyon (which I highly recommend) is that you're around 7k feet, you can get gassed pretty easy if you're not used to the elevation. Lot of stairs at Walnut Canyon, kids should be fine though.

RT 88 (The Apache Trail) is open to Tortilla Flat. Worth the drive to Tortilla Flat
for a day trip. You will pass Goldfield Ghost Town and Canyon Lake on your way. Visit the ghost town, stop and dip your toes in Canyon Lake and have lunch in Tortilla Flat. Very Scenic and curvy road. If you choose an easterly route from Winslow south, come down RT 60 through Show Low and Globe. The Salt River Canyon has been called the "mini Grand Canyon" and you drive, not hike, to the bottom and back up the other side.  ETA - Saw some big horn sheep at Canyon Lake the last week in February while out fishing.   |

Jerome is a a quick side trip from Sedona, Cottonwood or Prescott
Chiricahua National Monument is definitely a must see. It's a 2 hour drive from Tucson but worth it. Miles of uncrowded trails.  Attached File Attached FileCity of Rocks in Southern New Mexico is a great place to camp for the night and let the kids run wild.  Attached File |

About 30 miles east of flagstaff, there is an old roadside attraction called two guns. There are ruins of buildings and a cave.

Diablo canyon has a large train bridge going over it. You usually see at least 1 freight train while your there. plenty of good suggestions already, I will add monument valley and antelope canyon assuming the res is open by the time you visit.
Unless someone just has to go to four corners, I would suggest skipping. Every person I have talked to regrets going even those that really wanted to go beforehand. The pima air & space museum plus the missile silo in Tucson are great destinations if you are into that sort of thing. Not sure there is much in Phoenix worth doing that time of year, it will already be pretty hot. Indoors, if you are musically inclined, there is a Musical Instrument Museum that people travel the world over to visit. Not something I am particularly interested in, but I cannot imagine a better museum dedicated to musical instruments. Its quite impressive. Heard museum has an extensive collection of Native American exhibits in Phoenix. |

I'm going to second going to Kartchner Caverns (not Tucson, you heathens! It's in Cochise County), Tombstone, and if you are into freaky leftists, Bisbee. Bisbee is a bit of a pain because of parking, but some of the shops are worth it.
Tombstone is fun due to the history there. |

Thanks for everyone's help so far, it really helps and I appreciate it. Looks like we're doing one night in Page, one in GC Village, one in West GC, 2 in Sedona, and one in Tuscon/Tombstone area. I'm having trouble nailing down exactly what we should do with our time in Sedona. Devil's bridge, slide rock, some star gazing, airport at sunset....what else? Also, we're going by Roosevelt Lake on our trip from Sedona to Tuscon/Tombstone. I want to see the cliff dwellings close to the lake. Anything else in that area? |

The dam is neat too. (of course I used to do the IT for that hydro plant, so im biased) Look up Montezuma's Castle, and Montezuma's Well ruins... its off I17 in Camp Verde before you get to the 260. And on the 260, once through Pine, there is Tonto Natural Bridge State Park. Devils Bridge is awesome. There is the Church in the rocks, I mean all of Sedona is one giant post card. in Pine is a pizza joint called Old County Inn.. probably some of the best pizza in AZ... if not the southwest. |

If it’s Winslow, pick the right corner...it’s a small town, not hard to find, just listen for the song playing, and just south of Flagstaff, and north of Sedona, look at Flagstaff Xtreme, it’s a park with a pretty cool obstacle course, hit up Groupon or other sites and tickets can be had pretty cheap

You gotta see Montezuma castle. It's the quintessential tourist trap, though a national monument. On the 17 around camp verde. Gotta see it to say you did. Montezuma of the Aztecs was nowhere near here. . it is a cliff dwelling that you get to take pictures of from a distance.Tuzigoot national monument is a dwelling you can go in. The admission covers both, or did. This one is east a bit toward Jerome not far from the "castle." If in Tucson the air and space museum and titan missile site are neat. Look at San Xavier del Bac. It's an old Spanish mission and still an active church. Go during non-mass hours (not Sunday) but be respectful (even if it's not your cup of tea) as some people will be praying no matter when you go. Free to visit. |

Phoenix has a cool aquarium, butterfly atrium, and a dinosaur exhibit all indoors. It also is right next to the casino. A little further up the freeway or down depending on your direction of travel is the MIM museum or musical instrument museum and is a really neat place with kids. The Heard museum is also a very overlooked attraction that is unique to the state. Lots and lots to do not everything here has a huge sign or is advertised to much so allot is overlooked especial by the local and even more so from our residents from other cities. Phoenix is a very much word of mouth city as if you dont have friends in a few different circles you'll miss out on allot because its not all out there easy to find. If you come around the first of the month first Friday n downtown is always a good time even if just to people watch.
