The Rio Salado 3-Gun and Pistol Team Challenge matches are back by popular demand. If you haven't been to these events before, check out the videos from previous matches on YouTube: We only do this once a year - it is definitely not to be missed.

SPONSORS: This year we have some excellent sponsors who have generously donated some valuable prizes:
- KE ARMS is sponsoring the 3-Gun Team Match by donating three gift certificates for either a match trigger or a FF handguard (winners choice) to be distributed by random draw, plus they are donating enough AR15 receiver block sets for EVERY PARTICIPANT to get one of each as a door prize. The value of this product alone returns your entry fee to you before your fire a shot.
- VLTOR is also sponsoring the 3-Gun Team Match by donating three complete A5 stock sets, also being distributed by random draw.
- Suarez International is sponsoring the Pistol Team Match by donating 3 gift certificates. Again distributed to one lucky team by random draw.

WHEN: August 29th (3-Gun Team Match) and August 30th (Pistol-only Team Match). First shots at 7am each day. Attend either one or both matches as you wish - if you shoot both, you need not do so in the same team.

RULES: Time-Plus-Penalties scoring with minor variation to accommodate teams.

DETAILS:
- 3-person teams
- Each team may have only one Open Division shooter – the other two team members must shoot other divisions.
- Teams may be formed ahead of time, or scratch teams can be formed on the day. If you don’t have a team, we can put you in one when you sign-up. Everyone will get to shoot.
- If a shooter quits or DQs, the rest of the team may attempt to complete the stage and match as best they can. No alternates or substitutes after starting the first stage.
- Entry fee: $45 per team (i.e. $15 per shooter).
- No pre-entry required… Just turn up and shoot!

STAGES:
- There will be four stages.
- Shoot each stage as a team at the same time (either concurrently or “relay-race” style, per written stage briefing). For safety reasons, all shooting positions will be static.
- Time to complete the stage will be the team’s time; one score sheet per team.

There will be multiple ways to approach each stage – team strategy and communication on the clock will be important!

Any questions - post 'em here

Here are the 3-Gun stages...

Stage 1: Shotgun/Rifle/Pistol. Shot relay race-style, maximum six shots fired per string (inspired by the team match format at RM3G):

Stage 2: Pistol and/or Shotgun. All three team members shooting concurrently, just drop everything.

Stage 3: Shotgun/Rifle/Pistol. Shot relay race-style.

Stage 4: Shotgun birdshot (steel, clays) and slugs (wood post). All three team members shooting concurrently, drop the steel and chop down the wood post.

I predict a lot of DQ's on stages 2 and 4 and/or RO's who don't know of the muzzle requirement.

Lets hope not - this has not happened in previous years with identical WSB wording. These stages are built similar to a sporting clays shooting cage, simply to manage the muzzle direction and keep everyone on the line safe.

Thanks again to our awesome sponsors KE Arms and VLTOR. KE Arms donated goody bags for every shooter, and both KE and VLTOR donated generous product/gift certificates which we will distribute to some lucky teams teams by random draw.

Speaking for my team, I'd say this match falls under the category "we sucked but we had fun"... any day your Akdal shotgun runs has to be a good day . Here is our match video on YouTube

Today we shot a pistol-only match over the same basic course of fire - big turnout, even more fun. Our sincere thanks to Suarez International for sponsoring the match, donating gift certs that will be distributed by random draw. They also provided the stage guns - Carry Optics configured Glock 17s - that we used on Stage 1... quite a challenge for those of use more used to 2lb 1911 triggers   . Match video is available to view on YouTube

Fun match on Saturday.  Could've done without the twisted ankle on our first stage but still fun.  I just need to remember how to run.

I did see a few pistols on stage 2 come out of the port during reloads.  Maybe next time, use the same setup like on stage 4 which is a lot easier to keep muzzles forward.
