got someone with a very nice, possibly high value bring back 98 that is gorgeous, but has surface rust that needs to be dealt with without fucking the blue up anymore than it is.



so no gunsmith, a collector.

That's not rocket science.  



Soak the metal in a light penetrating lube (I like Kroil) and then very *lightly* polish with 0000 steel wool.  The key being *lightly*.

i would not even use steel wool, it'd be 0000 bronze wool.
