Quoted: As is often said: Timing is everything. A well publicized small group of vocal "gun nuts" would not do our cause anything but severe harm at this point in time. Everyone is still reeling from VA Tech and Columbine anniversary. Let it go Gents. Quiet activism is far more effective. Politicians only interested in reelection (which is ALL of them) don't want to touch this hot potato. People always react this way when a catastrophe such as this occurs. Its entirely understandable. They want SOMETHING done, even if its wrong and ineffective. Remember Stockton, CA? Gunning down kids in a playground is a sure way to get hi caps banned. Gunning down 32 college students is just as atrocious. Everybody just be cool and send the NRA-ILA an extra 20..... H. |
Now is the time to be pro-active...the timing was bad to get anything going for a counter protest. If we showed up with anything less than a hundred people, if not several hundred, it would have shown our cause to be unpopular. I was at the Counter MMM back in 2000. There were 400-500 of us, and the media widely circulated that there was only 200 of us, and greatly exaggerated the numbers of MMMs.
We are investigating doing protests at various college campuses. Protests are really a lot of fun, and often expose how rude and violent the opposition is. It's funny watching the supposed left wing pacifists being drug away by the cops.
The NRA-ILA isn't going to help us, with local politics. Their track record proves this. The Governor signed another pro-gun bill into law here AFTER the shootings last week thanks to the tireless efforts of dedicated
Arizonans.
