I'll be there for a Dr.s appt on December 16th, brain surgery on December 18th and recovery then back home bright and early on Monday the 22nd.

I have one free day on Wednesday the 17th. I should not say free as I have a friend setting me up with golf at the Phoenician Resort, but I'll be free for dinner or such afterwards.

I have lodging and a car set up by my friend and most of my time there will be medical in nature, but I do have a little time if anyone wants to get together.

Along the same lines, is there an AZ FFL here that I can ship a 1911 to for use while in Phx? Or failing that, how could I assure my protection while in AZ?

Not just golf, but golf at the Phoenecian Resort! It is truly a golfers paradise and I plan on playing from dawn to dusk....just in case I do not wake up from the surgery. It would be similar to one of us going to the SHOT show during a break, or one of us arranging a tour of the Armalite or Bushy or Colt plants while we were in town for a completely unrelated reason.

Golf is a very tecnically demanding endeavour...much like shooting. Small hiccups can cause HUGE misses.

Is the surgery at Barrow's or Mayo?

Good luck either way. They both have some of the best docs around.

I can atest to Mayo being Awsome.  Jannuary 2000, I was Diagnosed with Stage 2 Testicular Cancer.  By May of the same year I was officaly in remission.  Mayo is one kick ass medical facility.  I feel pretty dang good.  I get tired easly, but thats it.  Incase you are wondering yes they took one of my buddies from me.  Oh well, at least im alive.

It looks as though I have found my long lost brother as they also took one of my 'buddies'....for the EXACT same thing! I was pronounced free of any CA on March the 16th, 1997 (St. Paddy's Day!!!...yes I celebrated). I have not had a bad day due to the CA since then but these headaches are ALMOST as painful as those few days right after surgery.

The docs at BNI are among the best if not the best. My boss' son had malignant medulla blastoma that required three brain surgeries. I think he had 17 different tumors on his spine and brain. He is now cancer free and in his second year of college. BNI docs did all the work through St. Joe's Children's hospital.

You'll be in good hands.

Well, AZ does have open carry.  Approx 2/3 must show, specifically the handle and action.  Not very common while walking around, but the visible piece on the seat/dash is (when stopped by LE).  

When you heal-up and have more time, if you plan on visiting more, then: " Non-residents can be issued Arizona permits (CCW) after completing the 16 hour initial training, provided that said training is taken in Arizona and conducted by an authorized organization. Some law enforcement personnel may be exempt. (ARS 13-3112.E)"

Of course, it would be good for NM to have a CCW program that is recriprocal with AZ.  Maybe we will get there some day.

Meanwhile best wishes for the success of your surgery and the control of your hook.  B-aware, however, of those on this board who believe a golf course is a waste of a shooting range.
