Is there a place on the way, to meet up for breakfast beforehand?

... A bunch of folks are IM and e-mailing me asking to postpone until next Sunday - May 04, 2003 instead of tomorrow.

... It would give a little more time to get it in order, get maps out to those that can't caravan and make time for a breakfast run beforehand.

... What do you think?

You think that Charlie would wait till next Sunday?!  Hell no!  He's gonna be hot on your ass, there's not gonna be anywhere to meet up for breakfast while your busy trying to run from Aks and B40s.  Get prepared Suzy and Mary, be ready to go at a moment's notice.  It's taken me awhile, but I'm finally there.

I think we should go tomorrow.

I'll bring 35cc's of Vagisil for those who need it.

... I wish I could, unfortunately I'm only going next week. I may even go out the night before and camp out, BBQ and drink some beer for the hell of it.

So this thing is on the 4th?  If it is, I may be interested in coming.  I'm getting my first AR this week (varminter set-up) and I might need some help breaking it in.  Also just learing how to reload ammo, and this may give me some time to make some.

you think you got it made, getting a job at a gun store on the weekends....
then stuff like this comes up and really pisses you off...
we should definitely use this board to arrange more stuff like this though.

... I would prefer to e-mail you one. I will send a map to anyone that wants to go and requests one. I'm reluctant to publicize the spot. This place is a little secret for us long-timers here and it really kicks ass. I'm afraid it's going to be over run by wannabe-trailer-scum that trash good shooting spots. Traditionally, around here when that happens, the BLM or State shuts the sites down because of the few bad apples.

... I'm thinking more and more about spending Saturday (5/3) night out there with some night vision equipment, funstuff and steaks for the hell of it. In part that way I can secure the site for a dozen (comfortably) or so AZ AR15.com shooters.

Is your secret spot near Queen Valley the same as "my" secret spot (since '88), you know - the deadend canyon thing? Unfortuneately it's already getting trashed. Might be fun though, keep us posted.

I'm in as well. Any odd chance anyone is coming from West Valley (I'm in Goodyear) that I could ride with? The CG shoot played hell on my Camaro and Table Mesa wasn't a whole lot better.
Hope to see gunslinger and desertmoon there before I head back to humidity heaven.

Will I still be allowed to play if I bring something mundane like - gasp! - a turnbolt Mauser? OK, I'll bring a black rifle too.

I'm good to go on that day, and will be bringing all me toys along. (M16, M11 and suppressed P22) plus a few...eh...semi guns.

Where should the pre shoot breakfast be held???  There's an IHOP on the West side of Power just below Baseline Rd. and there is a Denny's on the West side about 1/4 mile North of the freeway  (US60)

Count me in as soon as I get map from Winston_Wolf. I also see if I can drag AZTroper and Huntrik's out too. And any other North Phoneix ARFCOM'ers.

... A couple things to keep in mind guys.

(1) Unless you're early to breakfast, here on the East side, it can be up to a two hour tax on a Sunday morning.

(2) If you do choose a spot to eat, park in such a manner that you or someone you trust can keep a constant eye on your vehicle and gear.

(3) Looks like maybe  rain this weekend. So what? Bring a canopy.

(4) Allow for enough time to clean up the range a bit. We don't want to be grouped with irresponsible slobs calling themselves shooters. Meaning, the area doesn't need to be pristine when you leave, but by goodness, if your going to bring a refrigerator to shoot up, plan on carting its carcass out!

(5) If coming out Saturday night, bring your night vision gear & spotting scopes, I am.

... I'm still planning on securing the spot Saturday night. Haven't camped out since last summer and I'm looking forward to it. Not going to be able to send out maps after Saturday afternoon so if you miss out ask someone going for a copy.

Anyone got an extra firing pin retaining pin they can sell/give me there?  I just broke mine after field stripping my gun in an effort to put it back in (doh!).  If not, any good places near the Chandler area to pick one up?

I would agree that if were going to meet up for breakfast, it would have to be early in order to beat the snowbirds and such. 7A sounds good.

I'd like to, especially with anyone from the west side of town. As stated I don't want to torture my camaro trying to get there. I'm askin around the jobsite for a truck to borrow just in case though.
If no one from the west side is going, can I park at someone's house and ride in with ya? I'm good for gas and beverages and such in exchange.

Still scrounging at work for some decent sized spare steel plates. I guess I'll have to lean 'em against something out there since there won't be time to fab up stands.

my plan is to head out there saturday before dark and do a bit of rifle shooting.  I'm taking some firewood, shade, tables, etc for sunday.  May take a little hike around as it's been a while since I've been out in that area.  I'm not really on the west side, but at cave creek/bell.  If you want to carpool Hamburger_T, let me know.

Can't make this one.
I'm going to the Gunsite 556 class this month with my Sgt.

The good news is my agency is paying me 40 hours to go.

The bad news is I have to pay for the class and ammo, so no road trips to the valley this month.

The great news is it's 1600 rounds of 223 outdoors, 300 of .45, and 360 of frangible 223 for the indoor funhouses, plus we get to shoot each other with simunitions equipped ar15's in the funhouses.

It will take me a year to clean out all the carbon in my upper:

It's gonna be SWEET!!!!!

Jay

... Bring them TopCrest, I'm bringing about 50. We'll have enough for everyone to shoot several but think about some form of environment friendly targets. There are two nice and large, fixed steel targets left over from the mine. They make a nice report when engaged. Bowling pins, poppers and swingers are certainly encouraged. I'll lay down a nice straight yellow incident tape for an implied firing line. Bring a folding table & a chair!

... Although I'm bringing a .50 BMG, there are not too many 250 yard plus targets in the canyon.
