Since thee CLEVELANDITE people are on the deck, we need to sound off. Just because Mike Brown can't figure out how to use his 1st round draft picks to field a team, and because those northern Ohio people traitorously root for college teams that start with the letter 'M' (because they secretly want tobe annexed as a suburb of Detroit), we have to continue to let them know that the capitol of Ohio is NOT that stinky town up on the lake.

At least CAMPYBOB is already convinced that the Ohio capitol is really in some small town outside of Canton.

Who's in SW Ohio? Hell, we'll even let our SE Indiana and Northern KY brothers chime in here....

Born an raised in Madison Township of Butler County! AND DAMNED PROUD OF IT! Currently live in Centerville and wife is from Xenia! You can find me shooting at the ranges of the Middletown Sportsmen's Club.
CLEVELAND SUCKS Only city in the world that managed to set a river on fire because of their filth!  Now if only we could get Pete Rose in, Ken Griffey Jr. out, and find a decent pro football team!
EDITED TO ADD: I definitely second RedLeg's idea for a shoot.  Email or IM me if I can do anything to help!

Hey sharkman... I called and left a message at the Middletown club because I wanted to join. That was like 3 weeks ago. I never received a call back.

I am all in favor of a tri-state area shoot.

BenDover: For some reason, probably to keep the riff-raff out, the Middletown Sportsmen's Club now requires an active member to give a recommendation for acceptance to the Club Manager for any new applicants.  It costs $50.00 a year and all new members pay an extra $20.00 initiation fee the first year.  With this, you get full access to all amenities except for the fishing lake.  The fishing lake is an extra $30.00 per year.  The rifle range has embankments at 25, 50, 75, 100, 150, and 200 yards. There is also Skeet, Sporting Clays, 5-Stand, cowboy-action shooting, archery and of course Trap.  For trapshooters, this place is heaven.  In my humble opinion, it is a much better Trap facility than Vandalia, due to its horseshoe configuration. This is the second largest Trap facility in the state and the second largest in the country if I recall correctly.  There are also plenty of areas for hiking, dog running, camping and facilities for RVs and fifth wheel campers. There is also a Cub Scout Troop located on the grounds along with a YMCA summer camp.  Hunter's Education Courses are taught every year at no charge as well.  At the end of these courses, they hold airgun competitions for the kids in the Clubhouse basement!  The winner of this competition gets their name in the Middletown Journal and a trophy. Yes I probably have a biased view being a former employee and my Grandfather having been a former President of the Club in the late 60's, but in my opinion this is one hell of a great place to shoot.  For the rifle shooters: This club is located at the highest point in Butler County and experiences some pretty good gusts of wind.  Don't be concerned though, because the rifle range is cut into a good size gully and wind is almost never a concern for us. The benches and shooter areas are covered for rainy days.  The Club prohibits full-auto fire whether you are a Class III holder or not.  This is done to prevent bullets being walked up the back gully wall and sailing into city of Middletown. This is possible because you are at a much higher elevation than the city.  Tracers, flares, grenades, or any other explosive or incendiary devices are strictly prohibited.  Hunting on grounds is also prohibited. But you will be hard pressed to find a club that allows these anyhow.  With that put aside, you can get more information at their website:

BenDover, if you need a recommendation just email me.
Guys, this really is a cool place to shoot, eat, drink, and just hang out at.  Many friendly people can be found here and a good time is had by all.

I think you are referring to me.  I live in the Loveland/Maineville area.  I've not been able to put much time into ar15.com in the past few weeks since I just found a new job after a 6 month layoff!

I am all for a SW OH shoot, esp if we can find some warmer weather.  I belong to Miami Rifle & Pistol on the far east side of town.

As posted in another thread, I'm a member of FSA (Fairfield Sportsmens Association) and the rules are very similar to what has been posted regarding Middletown above.

I'm up for shooting just about anywhere, but I'd really like to find a facility in the area where Tactical/3 Gun type matches are held or these types of facilites are available for an informal shoot.

Thus far, it sounds like all the clubs in the area are more setup for HP than Tactical rifle.

Checking from Germantown. Can second of third what's been said about M'twn Sportsman's as, I too, shoot there. mostly a trap club, but have skeet, sporting clays ( VERY challenging) and even a Cowboy club shoots there. Red, if you're interested in Tac type shoots, go over to assualt web and get in touch with a guy who goes by, I think, cqbar. he's the co-ordinator for the Tac shoot matches at Ft St Clair club just south of Eaton. Those boys shoot rifle, pistol, shotgun, and even a "Precision" rifle (I guess sniper sounds bad. Oh, well!)If you cant find him try looking on the web for Ft St Clair Gun Club, or get back with me.

Would be intrested in a shoot, if my schedule permits.

FYI gerg... Ft St Clair doesn't have too good of a rep with us right now. I am a member and I believe it is run by a bunch of local bolt-gun nazi snobs who think young guys with militaria rifles are gangsters out to create havoc. You know the type I am talking about... the guys who think the NRA only is there to protect .50 muzzle loaders because the RKBA is for sporting arms only... right??

JD Farquhar is still involved in the tac matches isn't he? He's a "good guy".

Springboro...I sometimes shoot clay pigeons at the range in springvalley but mostly shoot at millers campground in waynseville. Its basically a big field with a big hill at the end of it(nothing fancy). Accommodations include two picnic tables.I usually dont run into anyone ever shooting when go to shoot. A years membership is $20 and a days permit is $3.00-$5.00 I think. If you guys are interested I could get some pics. Im pretty sure theyre open all year round and there really isnt any certain time or day that you cant shoot(use common sense). There is a lodge too with some pool tables and pop machines but Im not sure if its open to shooters. I can find all of this out though if it generates enough interest. I know memberships went up this year because they werent getting enough people buying memberships. My friend is friends with the owners son so thats how I found out about it. Let me know guys...dont have any evil rifle shooting partners yet

Im willing to bet the owner might let us use that lodge if we had enough people willing to get a membership/1 day permit. The only drawbacks to this range that I can think of is that distance isnt marked and you have to take turns with other shooters when shooting long distance if they are shooting handguns. You can get out to about 275 yards though which is nice.

I used to live in Miamisburg, now in Louisville, and plan on attending any shoot that Ben and Tweet put together! Possibly bulletfest as well.

Ben, Yes, JD is there, alive & well. He's funning the Tac matches, also High Power, and DCM. The "boltgun nazis" are really Muzzleloading nazis. It's an ongoing struggle. the frontloaders would like to get rid of the Tac people, but, Tac is THE most profitable division in the club. As has been said elsewhere, no auto or bump fire allowed. Teason is this: land is leased and OWNER says no autos. Just FYI for anybody listening.

Hi, cincinnati area.

I'm really late to this thread; I had to be jolted awake to it by red-leg in an offline email.

I shoot at miami rifle pistol club out in clermont county-- its geared more toward highpower rifle and practical pistol, definitley no full-auto on the targeted ranges (although I have seen a guy sight in a Lewis gun with (i guess)special permission-- way cool. I wondered what happed to the SE-5 biplane he pulled it off of...   I have shot up a Spring Valley, although not since getting an AR.

two bushies, although I'm trying to convince the wife I need a 300 yd plus varmiter AR, just because, well, they exist...
