Rules:

This is a kid friendly event, my kids will be there. Smallborefreak and Batmanacw may have kids there and this year, some of our 4-H Shooting Sports kids may be here. If it is impossible to keep the language clean, it might be best not to come. Ask before bringing kids though, they need to be well behaved and listen to you and other adults. Any that can not take direction will have to leave, I don't want anyone getting hurt or worse. We have a play set and sand pile by the house if the kids need to burn off steam at any point.

Your concealed carry / open carry can be loaded when you arrive, carried all day and shot if you wish. ALL OTHER GUNS MUST BE UNLOADED WHEN YOU ARRIVE.

Know the four rules of safe firearm handling, there might be a test.

All center fire rifle rounds must impact the back stop which will be set at 100 yds. That means no shooting at targets laying on the ground that folks with rimfire and handguns might be knocking around.

If I haven't seen you shoot before and/or you have a new center fire rifle we will have to sight it at 25 yrds. We will set several times as people come and go to do this, the first one being right off the bat. I don't want rounds missing the backstop...period.

Before anyone goes down range all bolts. slides or actions must be open and some kind of indicator inserted. Spent brass large enough to see (.22 won't cut it), chamber flag or a pen would be fine. They can also be racked like a few guys who brought their own rack did.

If you have a target stand, bring it. I have a limited number and have room for about 10 people on the line at one time. I have some hanging steel but do not allow steel core to be shot at the steel. If you want to shoot the steel bring some lead core FMJ.

If you bring something fun to shoot at, like a computer, I would ask that you plan on taking it and the mess home with you. This may involve a considerable amount of time cleaning up as well as a bin for you to haul it home. Paper targets can be placed on a burn pile behind the range. Or in our wel ventilated burn barrel.

I would like to ask for a few folks to show up early and some to stay a little after to help set up some canopies and tables as well as tear down and clean up.  

Bring something to grill, we'll  have the grill at the range. Of you want to bring chips or something to share that would be great.  We provide lemonade and some sort of side. We will have cooler space available as well.

You may want to bring your own folding chair or a portable shooting table if you have one.  A canopy is a good idea, just be aware, canopy space is first come first serve.


Swap meet??? I don' t know, what is the feeling on this? Shotar suggested it and it sounds like a great idea, I just don't want to manage it.

I am sure things will be amended as people ask questions and offer suggestions. The bottom line is this, I want everyone to have a good time, no one getting hurt and my wife and I not getting stuck with all the clean up.

I think the swap meet is a great idea. We all have some excess that we don't need that someone else might. Through out your blanket and be ready to haggle.

You have options.  

Have him fail his last grading period so he doesn't graduate, or reschedule his open house.  Priorities man!

Yes, so long as all your paperwork is in order.  No one is actually going to check it, but it must be proper in case someone does.

We put forth the idea of a swap meet of sorts.  This is fine but if you are going to list stuff in this thread that you are looking for, or bringing,  we must not violate EE rules.  No for sale adds here and FTF only the day of the shoot.  I think it's OK to list stuff we might want to trade, but with the strict caveat that there will be no sales conducted in this thread or online.  I thought long and hard about this and it's borderline for Arf EE rules at best.  I might well get a wrist slap.

I'm looking for a ban era 10rd AR mag for my hunting rifle if anyone has one.  I'm probably bringing my great big box of everything.

That someone seems very unreasonable.

If you're bringing a tent/canopy, be sure to bring anchors for all four corners. They are calling for steady breeze of 10-12 and gusts to 25mph.  I don't want other people's cars or items damaged by flying  canopies.

Those dog tie downs that screw into the ground are pretty decent and our soil isn't too rocky for their use.

I know, we don't get too many perfect days for thos event. Only one time for reschedule and that was for that monsoon in 2014 or 2015.

We are probably the best pre-setup we've been in a long time.

While weedeating of the backstop wasn't needed this year (Trev did hit it was some string and half tank of fuel), Greyguy moved up to equipment operator status the previous weekend.
