I have been listening, the last few democrats keep bringing up the idea that just because the constitution might allow carrying guns, doesn't mean the state has to allow it.

Did they even pass high school government class?

correct...

now we have two different bills doing basically the same thing, but they are two different bills, ..and, thus, in order to get a singular version to the governor's desk, both chambers must agree/pass the same "bill" version/language.  they could do this a few ways:

1) house passes SB 215 as is...
2) senate passes HB 227 as is...
3) house and senate convene conference committees to hash out differences, ..then get each respective chamber to pass the new language..
4) one chamber, or the other, passes the other's version, but only after amending it, ..which then would put the onus on the other chamber to agree to the amended version...
5) ...

Thanks for, as always, the spotlight on matters that concern all  of us.  Much better outcome (so far) over the bills that the fucking house and senate "debated" about covid mandates

I feel like they do this on purpose.  Instead of just passing the HB they change it so now it can get stuck somewhere and never get to the gov desk.  Both the House and Senate can say they voted for it, but nothing really got done.

I pray that I'm wrong.....

Boggles my mind as well. It's either something like that, or some kind of arrogance that passing a house bill is beneath them and their bill is better - even if it says the exact same thing.

...they've done it this way many times in the past, ...the fact that both chambers have gone through the process is a major achievement, ...and certainly one would presume that having done so, that now both houses are in a prime position to agree on a singular bill/language, ...especially given the large majorities that passed the bills in each chamber...

Exactly.

It would be a slightly different (not hugely, but slightly) story if they were required to have 40 hour/week minimum staffing on the complete CCW line (the 3 day/week deal many have is not acceptable), a mandate that either CCW or written explanation is in the applicant's hand in 7 week days (not working days), and there was a staffed 24/7 receiving line for "emergency" applications with guaranteed 48-hour turn around. They forget, they don't have control, we are a shall-grant state, their only form of control over us is their ability to stretch it out over 45 working days, which is unacceptable.

I also thing it's stupid that we still are stuck going to our "home" county or adjacent touching county (I know place of work also count's as a "home" county). I'd happily take a day and travel south to get a renewal done in a day and never give my money to Summit again.

I would suggest that we keep up the pressure on all of our Reps and Senators to remind them that their job is not done yet. I don't know from a procedural standpoint which individuals we should be focusing our efforts on, so let's just keep calling and emailing them all.

we should be contacting our respective senators and reps, ..but, perhaps, more importantly, to contact the leadership in both chambers; the senate president and house speaker, since those are the ones who decide the "priority" of the agenda and they decide committee assignments...

..i think they've largely been on recess for christmas and new years, ...according to the schedule, doesn't appear they'll be back at things until next week at the earliest...  i would expect that once they're back, SB 215 will be referred to a particular House committee...  there are several ways for them to get it done, we'll have to lobby them to show our support and encourage action on getting something to the governor's desk...
