Lake Erie in general. Ths islands on the west end.

Rock Hall if you are into that sort of thing.

USS Cod is right by the rock hall. The guy that runs it is kind of a jerk.

Soldiers and Sailors monument is cool for a quick visit.

I'm sure there are more I am forgetting.

ETA -

-The main library downtown is pretty neat.

-Lakeview Cemetary - famous for Rockefeller being buried there? (just make sure you are armed due to its location

)

-Someone mentioned it, but the Cuyahoga National Valley. Take a train tour. Very neat and very informative.

For this group, you need to add the CMP North Store.

Put in Bay during the summer is nice to visit as well. Although the party scene isn't my cup of tea, driving a golf cart around the island and visiting Perry's Monument are nice things to do.

Glacier Rocks on Kelley's Island on Lake Erie. No cars on the island, bikes or golf carts.

Is a great way to spend the day. Take the ferry over, and then back to mainland, later in the day. Not a party island at all. Quiet and enjoyable.

Went as kid, my favorites were the B-24D Liberator (for
the pin-up girl artwork) and the Avrocar.

The USS Cod is in Cleveland, right on the lake front, between Burke Airport and the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame. Right near there are also the Great Lakes Science Center which now houses the space artifact collection that used to be at the Glenn NASA Research Center (formerly, the Lewis Research Center) and the Steamship Mather Museum.

Camp Perry, duh.

Come during the matches!

Heck, bring a gun and $35 and compete (literally, anyone can walk in and register and shoot and with the new rules a freaking Glock qualifies as a "service pistol") or come and take a Small Arms Firing School class from the Army Marksmanship Team - for a small fee they'll give you a class, some small-group coaching, ammo, and let you take a turn with either an AR-15 or an M9, depending on the class you take.

Yes.

Not sure what it's like since covid, but...

If you turn left (north) out of the campground then left on 224, "Ben's" restaurant is the first building on the left. It's ok.

If you turn south, there is an exotic animal rescue/zoo right before you get to western reserve rd. It's fun because you are a lot closer to the animals than your average zoo.

Yeah, SAFS is a GREAT way to get some instruction from guys who really know how to shoot. It's a fun time, too.

Almost no hospitality business is going to be able to survive a fire like that.
Geauga lake and Sea world were newer, and larger.
Also, about that time the steel industry shops were closing in droves.
It was super tight there at that time....

Not sure why sea world closed, but cedar point bought geauga lake and closed it because it was competition I guess.

I would say go to the rock n roll HOF.
CMP north store for gun people.
Dayton air museum.

Holmes County, aka Amish country. Berlin, Millersburg, Charm, Walnut Creek, Sugarcreek. I was there most recently a few months ago and the majority of Amish businesses couldn't care less about mask-wearing. Signs on the doors saying basically "We aren't wearing masks in here. You are free to do so if you want but we do not require customers to wear masks. If you are uncomfortable with our policy, please go elsewhere"

I grew up in Bellevue. The guy who owned it for past few decades, Dick Bell, was a really cool guy.

Cool story about the cavern entrance/gift shop. A few years ago, they lost power at the site in the winter, and the ventilation went down. When they arrived at the entrance to open up the next day, there was several inches of ice on every surface of the store, because of the warm moist air coming up out of the cavern into the zero degree gift shop.

National Museum of The Great Lakes in Toledo
Roscoe Village near Coshocton
Shoenbrunn Village, New Philadelphia
Age of Steam Roundhouse museum, Sugarcreek. See Amish country while you are there.
Fort Laurens and Zoar village near Bolivar.
Canton Classic Car Museum, McKinley monument and museum in Canton, if you're going to the HOF.

Good stuff.

I would say to add the entirety of Hocking Hills. If you're a hiker, the walk from Old Man's Cave, via Cedar Falls, to Ash cave and back is 13 miles or so. Other features in the area we enjoy are Rock House and Conkles Hollow.

Cincinnati Museum Center is worth the time if you care for museums. There are several in one spot in Union Terminal which is a cool place in and of itself. Natural History museum. Cincinnati museum in the basement. Omnimax theater. Don't go on a school day.

Huntington Park is a beautiful ballpark in Columbus. It is still affordable too if you'd like to catch a minor league baseball game.

It's a nice view from the top. I love the islands overall in the summer time. It's a nice mix of laid-back quiet relaxation and natural scenery and getting blackout wasted at the bars.

We like to go to Yung's then Young's.

Little Korean hole in the wall on Kauffman ave, followed with some ice cream at the dairy. They don't really speak English at Yung's, but do have an English menu. Hospitality and good food transcend language barriers.

The Pennsylvania house in downtown Springfield is pretty neat. 2 hours or so.

We need to finish the AF museum. I'd guess it takes at least 8, probably 10 hours to see everything. We do actually read all the placards and ponder them for a second. The tire from a (help me out aircraft nerds) B2? is awe inspiring.
