[Last Edit: ZW17]
Would you please take a few seconds and post how long it took to get your CCW permit?
Please consider the start date the day you handed all your paperwork in and the end date when you picked your permit up. This will allow future applicants the opportunity to see what county around them is fastest and who will keep them waiting longer. Thank you. |

I was having a dream that midgets were trying to assassinate me, so I went and bought a bulletproof car. But, since they were midgets, I got a convertible.

Thanks guys....
As you hit the poll please let me know so we can keep track here as well. |

Would you all please take the two or three minutes to help this website track the amount of time it took the sheriff to issue your permit.
This is a very valuable tool for future CCW permit applicants. Thanks a ton! I tried to vote, Did not see how to cast the vote. I put in one. I would like to cast that vote...... a little help!!!! I want to Wayne. The Plan Dealer was not going that far south, when they listed names in the paper. I made two tripes down. About a week apart. Their finger print machine was not working very well. The secound time I went they had a diffrent machine. It was NEW! After making a copy of my prints, he handed me my CCW card. He said I had already made two trips. He was not going to make me make a third trip. Beside he knew where I lived, as well as what I looked like. And he had my finger print. PITA45 |

Thanks RS39, this is a great tool for us. I have asked the site master at OhioCCWWhen? to link our HTF to his site and he has graciously done so. |

Hello everyone, my CCW took about twelve calendar days a year and a half ago (Spring 2006) in Allen County, Sherriff Dan Beck.
Very easy process. |
|
|
I live in Franklin County, but went to neighboring Madison County for the permit.
Processing went fast, deputy was friendly. Was told that the BCI took about 3 weeks and they would call. Will submit actual wait time data when I get the permit, |
|
|
Update.
Took 4 weeks. Have it now. |
|
|
Just saw this one too Zach 14 days for me in Franklin County. I got mine immediately after the law went into effect in April '04. I was the 147th person in Franklin County to be issued.
I went to the site and saw what pita45 was talking about. I never did find a "Submit" button though. I just entered my "14" in the box got the indicator to say "Franklin" and then "GO" Hopefully that entered my time OK. |

if you have ever had a background done through BCI&I you should get your ccw permit faster than the guy who hasnt.
i went to medina county on a monday and picked up the permit the very next day. |

I received my permit June 6 in Knox County. I cannot remember exactly how many days and I do not wish to break the 9th Commandment so I will just report this; the Knox County Sheriff is pro armed citizen. The seasoned deputy who took my application and the detective who gave me the license were both very friendly and respectful. It as if they realize that we have passed the same background check that they passed in order to become LEO.
Invitation to residents contiguous counties (Delaware, Morrow, Richland, Holmes, Coshocton and Licking) I believe you will be pleased with the way you are treated in Knox. |

I hit the poll. I can't believe the results for Cuyahoga tho. I got mine in the mailbox the second day after I went downtown....
Tuesday morning at 8:00 we were in the office, Thursday when I got home there was my CCW. |

Lake County only took 8 days, They told me that it took longer due to background checks for schools. So....... Lake County was pretty quick.

Montgomery County took from April 3ed to May 16th for my renewal.
|
|
|
Got my Certificate this past Saturday June 7th, cost $35 and I am going down either today
June 11th or tomorrow June 12th to submit in Tuscarawas County. I will update when I get my actual permit, hopefully it will be quick and painless The site at the beginning of this thread is gone I take it ? ETA 1: I submitted mine to the Tuscarawas County Sheriff on June 11th and as of today, July 3rd I am still waiting for the "Freedom Call" to Pick my CCW Permit up ETA 2: I pick up my CCW Permit this morning, 7-18-08 at 9 AM and it took a total of 37 days from application drop off to pick up today. Anyone in Tuscarawas County getting their CCW Permit MAY want to go to Stark County if you want your permit quick, I guess the AVG. in Stark is 3-5 days. I didn't do my homework or I would have supplied my own Pic and went to Stark County Also they called me 2 days ago to pick up my CCW this morning? said they had to enter my info into their computer? I always thought the info was entered as soon as the Background check was done ? Maybe I'm just being paranoid |

I took the class 12-18-2005 and turned in the certification to Highland County S.O. on 12-19-2005. My CCW was issued 12-20-2005. I believe it was about 18 hours. I live in Adams County but they only issue CCW's one day a week.

FYI : My CHL took 15 days here in Stark. FWIW, though, I am a new Ohio resident (and had to mark so on the application), so that might have drawn things out a bit. Then again, they are pretty busy; I went at 7AM (earliest they are available) to both drop off my app and pick up my CHL. Both times I had to wait in line, with plenty of people waiting behind me as well. (And yes, everyone was there for CCW) |

Walkure If you are a new resident yours would take longer because the FBI has to get involved then so if you were an Ohio Resident only then you would have received your CCW Permit sooner. Mine took 37 days, I took my CCW Class on June 7th and there was quite a few people from Stark County in my class and they said they were coming to Tuscarawas County because the T-County Sheriff takes the pic for us, did the Stark County Sheriff take the Pic for you or did you have to supply your own Pic ? Congrats on the CCW Permit, my Gun is like American Express, I NEVER leave home without it I am getting tired of all the Gun Buster signs I have run into, every restaurant we have been to has had the Gun Buster sign. My Wife and I went to Samantha's Restaurant by Gander Mountain last week because she really likes the food there, well they had the damn Gun Buster sign and she turned around ready to leave and disappointed so I just bought a Lock Box for the truck so I locked the Gun up and we went in We don't get up that way often together so I knew she really wanted to go there so I bit the bullet so to speak. I heard someone out there has cards saying that because they didn't allow CCW in their business that I won't patronize their place anymore and that they go on a "Do Not Patronize" List on OhioCCW.org, I need to get about 100 or so of those cards and hand them out at these places of business |
