I live about 2 miles from New Albany Shooting Range, but I will do everything possible not to spend money there. Is there one you recommend and cost? NASR ranges from $150-180 with everything included.

I took the New Albany class more than a year ago and it was quite good.  However, I haven't been treated well in their retail store since I took this class, so I have taken my business to the Black Wing Shooting Center in Deleware.

it's sad that NASR still treats there customers like shit in the retail side. i guess they mainly make all there money on training and range times. vance's kick ass in terms of CS and prices. I need to check out Blackwing, it looks nice on the commericals

ZW17, did you take classes from Gander and your opinions?

I did not. I still need to take my 12hr class here in OH. I would like to take this class but it's on the 18th and that is a big holiday here in Columbus. Can't miss that day.

IMHO: I would take the 12 hour basic pistol course, which I teach.  Then I would get some additional instruction.  Persoanlly, I would go to a IDPA friendly club, like Ashland Lake Gun Club (Ashland) or Ft. Harmar and start shooting, and keep shooting.  These gunsite and TDI courses are really, really good.  They do cost money, I've been to a few.  An individual will get more out of a gunsite course if he/she knows how to properly draw/shoot/move before you get there.  It's the personal defense THEORY your learning.  Not how to draw from a holster.
