Looking for a little guidance from the Columbus folks.

I have a two day training seminar next month at the Embassy Suites off Cleveland Ave. north of the city.

The seminar starts at 9am on a Monday and I'll be coming up that morning from Cincinnati. Obviously, the shortest route would be I-17 through the city and connect with I-270 on the north side and go from there.

I'm wondering if it would actually be quicker to hit 270 on the south side and ride it around to the top.

Thoughts?

I work in a building about 3 doors down from the Embassy Suites. Durring morning rush, you'd be best off taking 270 around (west) to Cleveland Avenue.

Take Cleveland Ave NORTH (I know it sounds counterintuitive, but trust me). Turn right at the first light onto Schrock rd.

Turn right at the second light onto Cooper rd. This will go back over 270.

Take the first right after you go over the highway onto Corporate Exchange Drive. The hotel is on your right, three buildings down.

I pity you for having to drive the beltway before 9am...

However, since you'll be on cleveland avenue, do check out Vance's Shooters Supply. It is my downfall in that every time I walk in there I walk out with an amazing deal (such as a 5 digit USGI inland carbine for $400 and a pristine 1943 Ithaca 1911A1 for $650)...

I've always had the best luck going straight thru Columbus (and Cincinnati) regardless of the time of day. Rush hour only half way going thru. Going around it's rush hour all the way around.

19 miles thru the city. Closer to 40 going around.

I drive a different route but don't find the traffic before 0700 to be that bad, not sure if you could get in that early though. And stay away from Vance's, your wallet will thank you for it!

If you do go to Vance's Remember the roles,

1) Do Not under any circumstances make eye contact

2) Make no hand Gestures period

3) Under no circumstances go into the strip bar across the street (unless your in to stretch marks, hippos or the concentration camp look)

I've been thru Toronto during rush hour going to our fishing hole. It took 1 1/2 hr longer to get thru.
