30 round mags are the limit for centerfire semi autos in Ohio.

You can't have more than 31 rounds in your rifle. 30 in the mag, 1 in the chamber. more then that and under ohio law you have a machine gun. mmk

The law say's you can not have your rifle arranged so that you may fire more than 31 rounds without reloading unless it is a 22lr or registered as a machine gun.
That being said, except for a few gun nuts, not many people know this so don't expect anybody to come running up to you at the range and arrest you. You can buy and possess whatever magazzines you want, if you want to legally insert them in the rifle you would need to find a way to block them (like putting a pencil in a shotgun) Dan |

I have never heard of anyone getting busted for this. Tech. against the law, but it is not enforced.

So, in essense, if you have a drum mag loaded up with 100 rounds, and you're supposed to only have 31 rounds in it, it's always in your best interest to shoot those 69 rounds very quickly so you get back to legal.

I dont think it matters how many rounds that you have in it, just the capability to fire more than 30 without reloading. And your right, not many people know or care. But thats a big risk to take. Years in prison or at the very least a felony conviction on your record. Just use a mag cinch to hook two 30 rd mags together.

I aint counting... my ears ring enough already.  They'll spew half the rounds out before the mag ever gets near the gun.

they busted some guy a few years back for uzi 32 rd mags. he also had some police badges . it was near cinci. if its on the books they can use it.

I had a friend who was shooting a beta drum in ohio and they told him not to shoot it on the range. As to the guy getting busted for 32rnd colt mags, I'm sure he had something else going on, or they just didnt like him. That stuff is par for the course in Cincinnati, Columbus or any of the big cities.
Laws that turn your average joe into a criminal for doing nothing wrong are whats really going to screw up this country. You can rob a store or beat someone near death and get less time then putting a pipe on your gun or by putting a shoestring on your gun! bp |

For the record. The law used to me 20 rounds max in Ohio. It was changed to accomodate the AR/AK crowd.
