For the first time in a long time, my wife and I went out last night. We leave our 16 year old, her friend and our 13 year old at home with dinner, popcorn and a pile of movies to watch. We told them we were leaving the cellphones in the car and if there was an emergency they would have to call the main number at the yachtclub, we did this to discourage stupid calls. We wanted them to understand that if they really needed us, the staff would have to find us.
So apprently, after watching a couple of horror movies, my daughter's friend becomes convinced that she hears knocking outside and sees someone in our back yard. The dog is not barking or upset apparently. These kids then of course call the cops. Who check the back yard, apparently find the gates secured and no new footprints. It has of course been snowing so any new footprints would be apparent.
My wife is fuming over the fact that our one night out in probably the last year is tarnished by the teenage drama queens. My daughter said she would take care of it herself but Dad, ( thats me ) locked up all the guns in the safe. I explain that the consistent drama is exactly why they are locked up. I could just picture her with her .22 bolt gun that she hasn't touched in two years, searching the back yard. It could be bad if it was just a couple of boys pranking. I now understand why parents should keep guns locked up. My kid is proof that in most cases if you live in an area with good police coverage, its better to call the police.
Now, my wife and I are invited to another party at a neighboring club on the 17th. I wonder if csabah would mind parking in my driveway and running radar for the evening?
