He is out of State government either way come next year.  IMO, he wants to use a Senate seat as a springboard to higher State or national office, and may even need it to stay relevant.  Feinstein is not long for the Senate no matter what at her age.

Honestly, both are sufficiently evil that the "esser of two evils" mantra does not really apply anymore.  But it could at least send a small message if large percentages of voters who cast a ballot did not vote in the race.  Saw a poll the other day that showed that something like 30% of voters who intend to vote do not intend to vote for either one.

The way things look, Feinstein is almost guaranteed to win reelection.

Replacing a very high seniority Feinstein with a no seniority loser seems like a good deal.  Not like DiFi was going to get any goodies for CA.  Plus I think (hope/wish) that there may be an over-reaction to the hyper-progressives if the Dems tank because too many people stay in the middle.

She's still polling 14pts ahead of mr. ghost gunner,  she will probably win just on name recognition.  Then she'll die in office and newsom will appoint de leon anyway.   Now if Cox beats newsom, all bets are off, but newsom is polling ahead of Cox big time.

Cox vs newsom

difi vs ghost guns

eta Yes, I know, polling.  But the results are predictable.

I'm really hoping for an upset. Even by the slimmest margin. That would send a huge message that we as Californians have had enough!

The last I heard Cox was 5pts behind newsom. The above poll shows different

The fineswine wins, gets older and retires, and then Cox assigns a Senator. Maybe just a dream

One poll shows Cox 5 points behind Newsom.  Most have not ever shown less then double digits.  That would indicate that the former poll is most likely an aberration.  The trend is still a reduction in the gap that initially existed, although it remains substantial.  But to hang one's hopes on a single poll which may not even be accurate at all is, well...hopeful, I guess.

I'm likely to not vote for either.  Would kind of like to see the Dems replace a high seniority senator with a certain amount of effectiveness/grease with a junior idiot.  And let them do it to themselves.

Everyone keeps saying this but kamala has been in office for only two years and she is known nationwide and is a darling of the network news and seriously considered the face of the future of the d party and has been pushed as a possible 2020 presidential candidate.  Yes, she's a black woman, do you think a hispanic man male will be ignored?

"My" congressman  (#notmycongressman) is Eric Swallwell, may fuck be upon him, another relative newcomer who is being courted hard by the networks including Fox.  He makes himself available for interviews at every possible opportunity,  he's a nitwit but people know who he is because they see his face, they don't remember how idiotic he is but they remember his face and name and so he will be re-elected until he dies.  Harris and duh leon are retards but they are remembered and high profile and this will yield real power.

eta I predict DiFi will win then either continue to blather on for another term or die in office.  She is damaged right now.  If she dies in office, and she just might, she will be replaced by the CA governor, probably newsome unfortunately.  Her replacement would be...duh leon is my guess.  So, who to vote for or just leave it blank?

I pass by his office every day, and have a little laugh because that is where all the homeless decide to sleep during the day. I've seen it mutliple times where they have to get someone to try to shoo them away.

You should go to a townhall meeting. The last one I went to during the summer was just a shit show to say the least. It's literally a group of democrats calling republicans sheep while Swallwell goes on about how he is the new face of the gov't.

Agreed !  At least you used the POS (Leon) real name. Then again "cunt" could be either one.

Some choice that was. The most gun hating POS gun grabber in California history who has his name on virtually every anti-gun bill of the last 20 years and Feinstein.

Some choice that is.

My bro hates Kevin Leon (the cocksucker's real name) so bad that he voted for Feinstein. I reminded him about Brett Kavanaugh and he says, "Oh, shit I forgot."

Too late. Already voted, signed and mailed. I abstained in all democrat vs. democrat races.

I told my bro I'll eat a bucket of dicks before I'd vote for that cvnt Feinstein. So I abstained.

WTF is the Republican party? Disenfranchised thanks to that new "winner takes all" primary law.

Also, I went through all the propositions and the thing that struck me the most was every one of them either took power away from the people, increased the power of the state, or cost taxpayers money. The bond issues were the worst. I voted NO on all of them.

I voted no on all State, county, and school district measures except for 5, 6, and 11.  Left the U.S. Senate, CA Lt. Gov., and LA County Sheriff races blank.  No one worth voting for in any of those.  Voted no for some appeals court judges and one Supreme Court judge, and yes for others.  The Statewide school race was between two Democrats, but Tuck seems to hold positions very similar to Republican reformers on education (he was to tehe Right of the Republican candidate last time he ran) and the Democratic Party and teacher's unions don't seem to like him much, so that's a plus.  Voted straight Republican or Republican-leaning independent for all other U.S. and State offices.

I don't believe in deficit spending.  The State government has huge amounts of money for all budgetary purposes.  They should not be spending what they do not have.

Fund the essential services such as police, fire, schools and basic infrastructure (roads, etc).  Everything else comes gets funding on what's left over.

The California Republican Party is dead as far as I am concerned.  The Republican Party has abandonded California, and did so a long time ago.

Don't know if all counties run the same system.  We got two big cards, connect the arrows with a single line for each vote.  Second side of one card was all judges/ yes and no.  (?).  Didn't have any idea on them.  But the lower right hand corner was the State School Supe vote.  It had a slightly different header and I suppose someone might miss it of skimming the justices.  Finally decided to not vote for either Senate candidate.  Both suck.  The only redeeming feature he has is he'd lack seniority.  OTOH, votes for him might suggest approval of his politics over hers to theorists/pundits/gasbags.  Both suck.

The Republicans should have, AT THE VERY LEAST, put a candidate on the ballot.  You don't need to spend much (or any) money campaigning but, good grief!, at least give us someone to vote for in opposition to the communist DeLeon and the anti-gunner, socialist Feinstein.

In the primary the Rs had IIRC 11 candidates to choose from.  And that was the problem.  Feinstein got 44%, duh leon got 12%  (top two go to the general election).  The next five candidates were all R and we only had to beat 12% with a single candidate but nope, every R thought they were the one.  So we got two d candidates.  yay
