How much is a springfield armory 6x20x56 govt model scope worth? I recently aquired one and know little to nothing about it. Any help is appreciated.

Might want to specify which generation it is. I help a friend bought one before, the spec actually is 6.5-20x56, mildot reticle. It was the special offering price when purchase M1A rifle and was $499.99 back then. Other scope might have Springfield's unique reticle which is quite different from anything else.

Is it illuminated?

I've had an eye peeled on ebay, and haven't seen any go for more than $600, and the ones that get close are 3rd generation, illuminated and mint condition. Unfortunately, they never really caught on with the shooting public at large. Springfield still warranties them though (no idea how...) Here's hoping mine doesn't go tits-up before I upgrade to my IOR

The 6x40 Govt ones with the BDC reticle have good japanese glass. Used to be able to get one with the "loaded" coupon when you bought an M1A for $99.

I bought two at that price, sold one for $300.00 and am still using the other on my full size M1A.  Its a good scope. Holds zero well. checking my gun logs i have shot Fed GMM with that scope into .75" groups at 100M and 2" at 200M.

I just checked the scope and it is illuminated and has the bubble in it.  There are a few scratches on the turrets and the outside of the scope but the glass is flawless. If it is worth around the $600 like you said i'd be willing to part with it.

I don't think you're going to find too many people willing to pay $600 for that scope.

The springfields were made by the same company that makes the nightforce scopes IIRC. The glass is good and the internal bubble is awsome for long range shooting.

Their 6x40 scope are crappy in my experience... Mounted on my M1A, fire about 60rds and see the cross-hair turn about 70 degrees counter-clockwise. Sent it back to Springfield to get replacement and it's now on my 10/22: Won't trust it for any hotter caliber then 22LR.

The 6.5-20x56 scope seems to be holding up okay on my friend's 700PSS though.

I've decided to part ways with my scope. Im going to list it on ebay. If anyone knows someone who might be interested tell them to check on ebay tomorrow. Listed as Springfield Armory 6-20x56 Government Model Rifle Scope. Thanks

***Hope i'm not breaking any rules by posting this, but if I am just IM me and I will delete this post as soon as I get the message***

I sold it and got $600 for it. Another that sold got over $650 but it had a box and sunshade.
