Go to 800 South Victoria Ave to the SD and ask for an app.  There are some websites (I don't remember the details) dedicated to helping us get our CCW. Check them out. Hope this helped.

You have to get the permit from the county you live in.....

I live in Kern County...which is probably the easiest county to get one in though. I've had mine for a couple years now....

Packing.org is very helpful

It doesn't hurt to have an out of state permit or two prior (NV and Florida specifically)

You can show proof that you are authorized to CCW in 23 other states...how about the one you actually reside and pay taxes in!

Get the training!

Is Riverside a don't-bother-trying county for CCW, too? It looks that way from the info at packing.org.

Helps to have a business and to mention on your app that you have to carry around large quantities of cash.

There is a good map at www.packing.org that shows the difficulty in obtaining a CCW.

Solano County: Impossible to obtain

In Kern county...I just told them I'm an occasional firearms competitor, and I wanted to be able to protect my firearms from falling into criminal hands while traveling with them, etc.

I know....it sounds corny...but it worked..

Go to Isleton Police Chief in Sacramento County.  The guy gives CCW's to everyone and anyone for a 6 pack of Bud

Gene Byrd has not been the police chief of Isleton for almost 8 years.
1997's SB 146 shut down out of city/county resident gun permits.

I'm not from Venture, but when I applied I listed my work (travel w/valuable equipment and samples), my competetive shooting (traveling w/guns), and camping (away from regular leo services).  As back up during the interview I brought all my travel expense reports for the last couple years, I also provided copies of my Range Officer Certification, and certificates from training I had had (some of which was with the firearms training officer and swat team leader for the department).  I also listed a couple of deputies as personal references.   I think its as important to show connection with the community and the department as it is to show great "need".

He said he lived in Ventura County.    Besides, you have to get the CCW from the county you reside in.
