Hey what do you guys think of the Springfield armory socom II?

It is a very nice carbine. I much prefer the 18inch barreled Scout.

It's just like a SOCOM16 with rail handguards.  I like my SOCOM16 with Sage EBR stock, except for the one piece muzzle brake/front sight/gas plug thingie

any range officals get mad at you for the sage stock?

No problem with mine at the shooting range.

But if you want to save some $$, get the SOCOM I and cut the stock to reduce the LOP to ~11-12 inch and put 3 rails up front, it will work just fine. Unless you have a PEQ-2 or PAQ-4C, SOCOM II does not buy you anything extra except the weight.

Sure why wouldn't they sell the Sage stock with pistol grip?  If you put it on a preban M1A it's fine.
