We had many outspoken voices here in the fla hometown forum predicting this was a scam and just a bad idea,

Now we got every special interest in the state with their hands out

We even got a few state reps wanting to spend millions on python & other invasive specie removal

why not just put a bounty on them say $10-$20 for each severed python head a hunter brings in. and allow the skins to be sold.  

thats just the start there is more arguing over what lands to buy ranchers with their hands out and developers hedging thier bets,

in all I bet the whole 70 some million will be wasted on just a few acres next to some already protected park and maybe some unneeded bridge on us41.     what a waste

Never underestimate the "Good ol' Boys" club in Tallahassee. Some of their large contributors, Golfing buddies at the club, second cousins and old college friends probably have some swamp land somewhere that needs protecting.


Even though their cold blooded I wonder if the snakes could still be detected with FLIR on a cool/cold fall, winter or spring night.

Not to mention that it steals money from the general revenue fund, which means it will likely come out of DEP's budget which means even less money to maintain the public lands we already have, because you know Chaniqua, Rositta and Cheyenne "ain't" goin' stop getting their monthly "paychecks"...

And to compound the problem they are going to add more land but not provide anyway to manage it and that's real retarded sir.

Politicians are treating this like grant money with a environmental twist.
My County is trying to get septic tank removal and sewer construction in on this.
Save the river is their battle cry.

One thing in Gov't remains constant.



Give them money, and they will spend it.
