I've seen smoke in the sky  and been smelling fire all day from the fire in SE Georgia.

it is awefull, but as green as the flagpond is, stomp a hole with your heal and at least you can get water to survive on for the next day or two

At least it's not on fire....yet.

Even the cypress heads are burning up here.

Natures reboot;here's how you get those beautiful white sand bottoms in the lakes and springs, along with open , unclutterd prairies and wood lands.

I'm starting to think about rock. Won't die, and then I won't have to mow it either.

Finally ... it is coming down good, but will take a number of these storms

to even make a dent in our low aquifer levels.

Gainesville had a really good hard rain Monday.  Not so much as a standing puddle Tuesday morning.  But it did cut down on the smoke from the Levy Co fires.

No rain here in Seminole county; I've been trying a garden since March, and even though I water it morning and evening, it's so dry that I can flood it with an inch of water, and it rolls off to reveal dusty dry dirt.

Ain't looking good for homegrown veggies!

Still dry as a bone here.

The local Everglades canoe trails have completely dried up and are covered with dense terrestrial types of vegetation and the alligators are congregating on the remaining mud flats like you see crocodiles do in those African nature films.

And the local ponds are drying out leaving the fish nowhere to go.

All of my favorite fishing spots are drying up. Turning into mud holes. I'm sure we'll get some rain soon, once we start getting some tropical storms coming through.

Tell that to my truck which was going through about 3 feet deep muck and mud last weekend in South Dade. My tries are 32" and the crap was at least as high as them.
