She wanted to give me this.........  

It belonged to the FIL when he was a lad and it appears (on quick inspection) to be solid and in good working order.  

I ran the S/N, it was made in 1922.

I got a Colt Cobra 38spl (the aluminum one) from my FIL/MIL.  Its unfired from 196?.  I put it away for my son ...

Unfortunately, I never got to meet my MIL. She died when my wife was very little.

Now the step-MIL is another case altogether. About the only thing that I could ever inherit from her would be one of her primary means of transportation...a BROOM!
