I am going to be getting some new no-ban toys next week, and I have no place to shoot them. There is a 50 yard range on Dale Mabry, but I am looking for something 100-300+ yards. The closest thing I can find in the gun range list is way up by Brooksville.

Is there any place closer?

Not really, the Hernando Sportsman Club is about the best place around.   It is a very nice facility, and allow rapid fire.

Because of its far distance, I don't get to shoot very often

Manatee County has a fairly new range on East 64.  I never visited it before I moved because I always Farmland to go to.  Not sure how far that would from you.

Tenoroc is a 100 yard outdoor range off SR 33 in Lakeland.

Manatee Gun Club is a 600yd range off SR64 about 22 mi east of I75.

Other than that, you're pretty much out of luck.

Knights in St pete off of us19 has a 100 yard range that's also BMG friendly. Mark ( the owner) is a great guy as well. Nice set up. 4,000 sq ft store as well.

I thought Knights was a 50 yard rifle range?

Manatee is great.  Nice RO's, you can even drive your truck out to the 500 & 600 to change your targets.

They have a handgun pit/berm to the right in addition to lots of rifle lanes.  Covered shooting area, and a little clubhouse with snacks and stuff.

IIRC, they want to build a 1000yrd lane.

went to Tenoroc and was disapointed to find out there rifle range maxes out at 100yd.  But its a great range otherwise, i went on a saturday and it was like attending church for the gun owner.
Just thought you might wanna know.

I belong to the Manatee range and it is worth the 45 minute drive from Brandon.  Great people there and the range is functional.  The only problem is that they don't like Class III.

They like class III. Just had a guy that shot uncontrolled one time, and put a round up in the air that went up across the back stop. The round went through the window of a guy driving down a road next to the range, just missing him. Lucky the driver wasn't hit, and a member of the range.

So since then they have stopped ASSHATS that can't control their guns safely.

Class III they love. Trust me.

Well, I live in West Pasco, so it looks like the Hernando County gun club is the place to go. I am thinking of looking for some land to buy to have my own range. I wonder what a plot about 1.2km x 500m would cost somewhere near Land O Lakes...

Stay the hell away from the black-rifle hating Wyoming Antelope Club- I was a RO there before I moved to South FL.  By the way, Dick from the Antelope Club (you know who you are, you nasty old fart) go fuck yourself.

Seriously, stay away from that Antelope Club and spend your money at a place that supports all gun owners.
