$2000 bought me the whole lot.
I got a very low use German made HK91 with an Arlington, VA stamp on it. A factory 22lr kit, a claw mount with some Leupold scope, a telescoping stock, 45 magazines of various manufacture, some new, about 10 are aluminum. And a couple hundred rounds of 7.62 match ammo. Thanks dad. 
The box this comes in is awesome.

The .22 conversion kit is a good $500+ on its own. Subtracting everything else, you probably bought a factory HK91 for maybe $500.
Yeah, I'd say you did ridiculously well. |

That's the 91 .22 lot and not the common G3 kit. The g3 .22 lot is $500 +. Those $45 steel mags are priced like late 80s prices. I'm guessing the bipod is German and the coll. Stock is likely commercial and not surplus (painted and not parked).
Bipod would be around $200 min. And stock in the $400 range. Mount is going for around $400 now. |

You did good. I laughed when I saw the leupold because I saw a ton of guns set up similarly when I was younger. Those guys loved their deer assault weapons

Figured out the difference in the 22 kits. The spacer in front of the bolt carrier is not there on the surplus G3 kits. This one is IA (1980) dated.

Correct on the spacer. The extra length keeps the carrier from getting locked behind the hammer, allowing for full retraction of the charging handle in a semi gun, whereas a semi gun with the G3 kit will require a little care in charging, or a piece of hose over the recoil spring. There could be a little extra value to a collector for the 91 kit as they're less common.
My opinion is keep it since you have basically nothing in it in a sense, and definitely try it out first. It's my favorite accessory for the 91. I love my .22 kit and shoot with it often. |

Well, you got a sweet deal even if he did make you pay. lol IIRC, I paid close to a grand for mine (just the rifle and 1 or 2 mags) back in the 9os.

You did very well on that deal OP.
The .22LR conversion kit is pretty neat. I have the same civilian market HK conversion kit. My only gripe about the kit - at least in my case - is that it is not that accurate. Best I could do at 25 meters was 2" groups on paper. I figure the muzzle end of the conversion barrel bounces around a bit inside the 7.62 barrel. I have a pretty good chunk of change invested in a PTR91 and it's accessories... good job OP.

On the .22 kit, have you tried a bit of tape on the muzzle of the insert to tighten it up? How does the rifle shoot with 7.62?
I ask because my .22 kit is supremely accurate. Not 1 hole groups, but certainly better than 2" at 50 yards. Mine is used in an SAR3 that I bought unfired, that has maybe 300 rounds through it, so I wonder how barrel wear contributes to the sub cal. kit accuracy. |
