A guy I know just came into an HK93 and he'd like to trade it for a tricked out AR15 and I'm trying to work the logistics out with him.  I've seen the weapon and it's in excellent condition.  has one magazine (35 rounder?) and the fixed stock.  It's made in Germany, but I don't know the date code as I didn't think to look at the time.  Bolt face is nearly perfect.  The flash hider rotates...is this normal?  What do I need to look for?  Where would any import marks be?  We estimated the value between 2k-2500...sound about right?

Any advice appreciated, thanks.

Price for HK 93 is a little higher then you stated.  That being said go HKPRO.com and do a search on the forum should answer all your questions.  No the flash hinder should not rotate unless it's in screwing from the barrel?

It's held on with some sort of clip, it appears.

That's correct - the spring clip engages the splines on the barrel to keep the hider from unscrewing during firing.

Said splines:

Maybe it's pulled out a bit?  I can see the splines with the FH in place.

Any import markings should be on the left side of the magazine well.  Very early one would have SACO, later ones just marked H &K, Chanttiy(sp), VA.  The flash hider screws off easily so being loose is normal.

^about half way down it gets to the 93

I'd never let it go...so if its in good shape and you can get it for $2-2.5k do it!

Ok, the trade is done!  I gave him a souped up Rock River and 100 rounds of ammo for the HK93 with one 30(?) round magazine.  I field stripped the 93 and it's absolutely primo inside.  Beautiful condition.  Date code puts it 1981 (but it is marked Cal .223 on the left) and the import is Arlington.  The FH was just partially unscrewed, so I snugged it back up no problem.  I haven't test fired it yet, but I will later today or tomorrow.

I know, I know, I need pics.

Yeah, but after shooting it, I don't really like the rifle.  I think an HK91 would be much more interesting.

I have an HK93 also and I'm really fighting the urge to get rid of the rifle to fund the purchase of a Knight's SR15 E3. I'm afraid I'll regret selling the 93, but
I never shoot it and I want a flat dark earth SR15 really bad.

Hmmmmm........

I used to have a NIB Norinco 56S AK.  Finally sold it since it was only taking up space, and I always thought I'd have sellers remorse.  So far I haven't.  :::shrug:::
