I've seen the aluminum mags at that price, but those are steel mags.  I wish I had over 200 steel mags, they typically sell for $25-$50 a piece.  The aluminum mags are roughly $3

robertrtg.com has alloy mags for $2 each and steel for $4 each. def the best price around.  they also have what they call a "beater pack" of 104 alloy mags for $85 I think. if you dont mind how they look, that sounds like a great deal!

I got the 100/$150 deal. They are used but all are in good shape. Not sure if they still have them in stock.

Looks like Robert has "Like New Steel Mags" for $8 each.

not sure if has any "ugly packs" of 104 in stock but I just checked and looks like the price is now $89 thats a hell of a deal.  in addition to "like new steel mags" for $8 he has "used" steel mags for $4! robertrtg makes it easy to have plenty of mags on hand!

Ummm, I, too, have about 50 steel G3 mags and maybe 70+ of the aluminum.  But mine are all military coded with the manufacturer's symbol and a month/year date.  These three mags are commercial ones (for the HK91 rifle) marked 7.62 x 51 followed by a date code.  The first two are obviously "IA" and "IB".  The third one may be "IC".  If so wouldn't these be three commercial mags date coded to three consecutive years '80, '81, and '82?  That would be kinda rare.

The only ones I have with this caliber and date code are my two HK five round mags.

They are typically $6 apiece like here, or cheaper. I ordered four of those mags specifically, and scrubbed them with #0000 super fine steel wool and then they looked new. They are great, steel magazines.

all the alloy mags I got from robertrtg.com were HK mags marked with an HK and the Month and year date code. most of them were from the mid 60's (the best ones actually) and some from the 70's and early 80's.

You are correct - the third one is IC marked. The date code didn't show up well in the picture. You are also correct in that these are commercial variants made for the HK91 rifles that were imported back in the 80's. You have good critical thinking skills.

I dont understand this HK/PTR mag situation. There is absolutley no consistency in price. I went on gunbroker and did a buy it now option (which costs more then actually bidding) and got 35 un-issued pre-ban mags for 3.50 a piece. Every single one of them is shiny and new and un issued in factory wrappings (but pre-ban). Why are the sellers which are being linked to charging 6 bucks a piece for used/rusted mags?

I just ordered 10 more Aluminium G3 mags from Centerfire Systems.  They were $6 for a 2 pack with a rubber mag pouch. (bought 5).  Anyone have any reviews on these?  I'll be shooting them in a CAI G3 clone.
