The magazine that came with my new PTR 91 fits pretty tight at the back, at the magazine catch.  It doesn't fall free when the magazine release is released, like my AR.
Is this normal?
Seems that the empty magazine should fall free while the left hand is bringing a full magazine up to the gun for a fast reload.

I've got a hundred used German military magazines on the way.  Can I expect them to fit a bit looser or just as tight as the new one that came with the gun?

Thanks,

I don't believe any mags fall free from the PTR-91/HK-91/G3.  Not designed that way.

ETA:  I have a PTR-91 and certainly none of my mags do.  M14, AK, FAL mags don't either.  Not many rifles are designed to have drop free mags.

I'm pretty sure that none of the mags are intended to drop free.  Real G3's have a mag release more like an AK's.  if you have a large lot of Mags coming, some will fit tighter some might fit looser.  I have some mags that slide right in, and some that I have to hit the bottom to get them to lock in.

They are not drop free magazines...you're good to go.

Sorry for the typo...

They are drop free.  Kind of like Diet Coke is calorie free.

The mags will not drop.

None of my 60+ G3 mags drop free.
