I have no plans to sell the gun that will be mentioned here but, I'd like to know it's value...

This gun will be an IGF HK-53 SBR built from a DSA HK33 parts kit on a Vector receiver...

The receiver will be the only American made part on the gun...

How much do you think it will be worth?

I'm hoping that it will be worth more than what I put into it...

Keep hoping. SBRs usually don't get premium pricing, but things change. It helps that you are using an HK parts kit, so it's likely to appreciate in value because of that and they don't seem to be available anymore.

The boys over at HKPRO say $1600.

I sure as hell put more than that into it and I could easily sell it for more than $1600...

FYI: I sold my %100 Bailey built SW-5 for $1400...

And how much is a REAL HK MP5?

How much are the clones?  What does your gun do that a clone can't?  The market drives the price, not the parts contained therein.  You may have "the best" of the clone, but $1000 better than a run-o-the-mill clone?

YOUR tax stamp doesn't factor into the value of the gun. If I was gonna dump $2,650 in a 53 I'd probably go ahead and start with a real 93. That's just me though. When you're getting into $2500+ HK's you might as well just blow the extra money and get a real one IMO.

I personally wouldn't pay that for an SW5.....new. A used one might be worth $900-$1000 if somebody wants it. You did good selling it for that but that's hardly market value on a used SW5 IMO.

Whatever makes you happy though. It's not like you did bad if you got what you wanted. Plus you got a superior build to a vector. If you aren't hoping to sell for a profit then a bunch of guys lowball estimating the value of your gun shouldn't bother you. Just go shoot it and be happy.

Not too surprising... Those of us who have done the SL8/G36 conversion are in the same boat. There's a lot of money that goes into building one, but it seems difficult to sell a complete one for anything like what it cost to put together. That's just the nature of custom firearms.
