I'm new to the HK/ HK clone world and was looking for a replacement stock for my PTR-91A1. I about fell out of my chair when I saw this. I can buy another damn rifle at this price. Its composite plastic (most of it anyway) and can't cost a tenth of the price to make. Looks like I have some learning to do a big reality check coming....

HK PSG1 Buttstock, Fully Adjustable New Factory

Supply and demand, and there is no supply hence the price.

The last new PSG1s sold for over 10,000 dollars back in 94.

They're commonly found in like new condition for $600-650. I sold mine for $650 shipped. I still can't believe a piece of plastic sells for that much.

I've had an MSG90 stock and a PSG1 stock. The PSG1 is superior for adjustability and for ease of adjustment, but $600 is still steep.

In fact, I bought a Springfield SAR3 overstamp and recovered enough money by selling off the add ons that I only have $409 in the rifle. (Sold PSG1 grip and stock, HK53 flash hider, 1200m sight, PSG1 trigger pack, bipod, integral ring scope mount, mag loader- got over $1800 for those parts)
And to think I was gonna buy a PTR!

The magpul would be a cool alternative.

save your self a ton of $$, used(or your current) A2 stock, heavy buffer, extended buttpad, Cherokee cheekpiece, might not look as neat, but works damn good

I woudn't mind a SG-1 stock......anyone got one for sale :)

I think this is one of the many reasons HK won't sell us complete firearms.

They make comparatively more money selling us parts than individual Post-86 weapons...

$150 for a HK53 flash hider?
$375 for an MP5A3 stock?
$1500 for a HK23/21 barrel?
$175 for a metal ambi selector?

These prices can't possibly come close to the manufacturing costs...

By the time you buy 5 MP5A3 stocks, you could have bought a post-sample MP5.
By the time you buy 4 HK21 barrels, you could have bought a post-sample HK21.
By the time you buy a dozen HK53 flash hiders, you could have bought a post-sample HK53.

You've got to be fucking kidding me...

This is robbery!

I thought they didn't even have the tooling for the old 90 series long guns anymore.

It's an emotional conspiracy theory...

Does anyone really know why they won't sell us 416 uppers or no-ban SL8s and USCs?

(Because HK hates civilian money)

To be honest, I've used a PSG1 stock on a 91 and I wasn't impressed by it that much.

well my rifle came w/black furn.... bought the collapsable stock and love it....  but I think the slim green furn. is awesome for $35....   fits me great w/ the iron sights and I was making hits at 200 today that I was real happy with (with SA no less.....)

but hey, the mags are a kick ass deal....

I've got one on my PTR91. The bolt and washers come through the back of the stock where the buffer channel would be on a normal M4 stock and screw into the HK buffer tightening it onto the stock assembly. It does look a little weird at first when you get use to and like the traditional HK91 look, but it is very functional. I had to change mine being a lefty. The normal HK91 furniture and rifle itself is mainly setup for a righty, so changing out to this buttstock and changing the handguard out to a railed handguard let me attach my sling through the top of the buttstock facing the right side for a lefty and put a sling swivel attached to the right side rail of the handguard for a perfect sling setup that is easily tranferable to either sides. With a Falcon Navy style grip and that setup it's fully ambi functional, and shoots like a dream I might add.

Now of course their selling it that way for someone who would want it. I know it's not traditional, but it is functional for multiple users and takes all the accessories you could want.

Does anyone make an AR-to-G3 "adapter"? Getting that Magpul stock on a G3 would be awesome. Have you done this BB?

HK makes good stuff and they know it.   Since they primarily deal with Government contracts and purchases, they can charge preaty much whatever they want and they know Governments will pay for it and keep comming back for more.  The individual buyer just has to pay through the nose like everyone else.   I paid $55 a peice for some G36 mags , and they are nothing more than some plastic molding with a wire spring inside.  Could not have cost more than $5 to make, but they are HK and anything with "HK" stamped on it is just more expensive than something that is not.    Just get used to it.  HK is expensive.

Chocalate and vanilla, I guess, but I love mine, of course, I need one because my SR9TC is scoped.  I upgraded from the MSG 90 stock, and it is worlds ahead.

Of course, my like new MSG90 stock substantially defrayed the cost, they ARE expensive.

Yep Ace does 94Ranger, I've been looking at it myself if your talking about the new Magpul Precision stock. You buy the Ace HK91 Receover block and the Car15 stock block "Pig Nose". Put them together and the Precision stock on it and there you go. I was planning to talk to Ace about a customized block that would be a more flush mating of the block and the Precision stock as it's cut for an A1 or A2 standard setup, but don't have the money to put towards it yet with a new Troy Sopmod II in my immediate sights for my M1A. You could call and see what they could do though as they do custom work besides I think.

Thanks AChilles1 for the info! I am planning a G3 build eventually and I'd love to put a Magpul on it. I assume that block will take any AR stock; it's not just an endcap for a pistol build right?

If anyone has done this, I'd love to see some pictures and I'm sure others would too!
