what (if any) differences are there between the HK94 and the SP89 receivers? (Besides 'pistol' markings)

length. The HK-94 receiver is longer, probably by about 1 1/4" or so.

I am sure someone can correct me on the exact length difference.

The SP-89 receiver also had lugs welded into the rails so that user could not
install a sliding stock.

Correct,  the 89 receiver while approx 1.25" shorter, is also modified to not accept a stock.  The 94 receiver is longer in the rear to accomodate the shoulder stock, and consequently, the take down pin hole is also further rearward.
