Hello,

Does anyone have experience with Beta Mags in the HK93 and HK94 series?  I was wondering if they are as reliable (or unreliable) as the AR Beta Mags?

Thanks,
Spooky

I've used the 9mm mag in the MP5 with great success.

Worked fine for me in an MP5, as well as beta mags in my M16.  Keep them properly lubed.  Sometimes they require a little break-in.

The very first time I used one in my MP5, it stuttered off and on.
I lubed it with the powdered graphite, and since then, it's worked like a champ. I lube it every 2-3 loadings.
Works for me.

I had one mag for MP5 that had a serious malfunction.  I sent it back to Beta, and replaced it.  No problems since.

The issue I had was the bolt carrier bit into the top "ramped" dummy round and pushed it out of the feed tower.  The gun jammed, with a couple dummy rounds up in the action of the weapon.   I reassembled the mag, and test functioned it by hand, and the thing kept falling apart due to the same "biting."

When I sent it back in, it got lost between the USPS and Beta... Neither USPS nor Beta would take resaponsibility, so I had to write it off and buy a new one.   Lesson learned:  don't rely on delivery confirmation... send things of value insured.  That requires a signature upon delivery, and is relatively inexpensive.

I'm looking forward to .308 mags becomming available.

Ive used one with an HK G36 with good results. This item is now an issue item in the Bundeswehr for the G36. They do have to be kept lubed.

Thanks for the replies...  I had seen mixed reviews but this looks like some good info.

Do you suggest the dedicated Betas - or is there such a thing?  I am getting an HK93 Beta tower soon - does that mean I have to buy an AR Beta mag as well?

Unless I am mistaken the mag is always the same, just the towers are different.  You can also buy spare towers.  If you are going to be swapping it around different platforms often, I would suggest getting multiple mags to avoid the hassle of swapping towers.

A couple of you have mentioned th .308/7.62 beta mags.  Do tell, please.  Last time I checked into this they said they were not going to make them.  Has that changed?  You have me drooling over here...

7.62 x 51 Beta Mag

Story I hear is, first batch is for the military, for their M14's.
Later (this year, hopefully), they'll come out with other towers, for the FAL and the HK91/G3.

It will be mine. Oh yes, it will be mine.......

Although the idea of a 100 round drum is very appealing,
IMHO it would be rather difficult to transport and carry.

Not just from the weight of .308 ,but the size and shape
of it.

I would personnally rather someone would make a "clone"
of the HK 7.62 X 51mm NATO  50 round drum.

It would be lighter ,more compact ,and probably
tougher because of it's shape.

I mean come on , HK G3 drums are going for
well over $1,000 Dollars a piece !

I can't believe knowbodys copied these !
