Any word on the possibility of a Beta-C for a G3/91?  I heard talk about it, but nothing solid.

According to Ruben Mendiola, they (Beta Co.) do have plans to have a drum in 7.62x51 available with interchangeable towers this year.

I would have to get one too...but wouldn't it be low speed high drag gear?

What is the projected cartridge capacity?  I'd imagine 75rnds...like the converted MG42 drums.  I think a drum would look nice hanging under a HK-91 with a light bipod and 1200 meter sight!

I think beta would have to make it 50 rds instead of 100.  MG3 drums are only 50.  To get up to 100rds that is almost a fortress can.

Puts the whole concept of a .30 cal light support weapon into perspective....  Now if I can just find someone to swap out that pencil thin HK91 BBL with something along the lines of a 21E - or perhaps just a heavier BBL installed that can actually withstand some prolonged shooting.

100 rounds of 308 and the drum magazine would have to weigh at least 10 lbs!!

Pretty strong springs to feed all the 308 too!

Wow, that would turn the G-3 into an LMG, er, maybe a HMG.

I thought they had already made some C-Mags for the 91? A few years ago I was watching a special on private security / body guards and they had HK91/51/G3's with plastic drums and assumed they were Beta's.  Perhaps they were mfg by a foreign company.

Found on another site:

I spoke with a rep about a HK91/G3 Beta Mag. He said it is in the works. I have attached the e-mail thread.

Dear sirs,
Why don't you make a Beta Mag for the HK91/G3 rifles, and are you planning to in the near future???

Thank you
Kenny Hart

Ruben,
Thank you, I have been going nuts trying to find a MG-15 Drum Mag to mount a G3 mag to as a tower. Now I don't have to.

Kenny Hart

is still in planning stage, a lot rode on the Presidential election

Could be BS. WHo knows. I have seen it called both ways.
