There really isn't any sound in English that matches the German "CH"--as in Ach-- the same sound is used in Scottish-- but QCMGR was right on when he said to pronounce it as Coke and clear your throat on the K-- That's about right-- Now-- Is it "H K" or "H AND K"????

For crying out loud, it is pronounced "Coke" no ifs, ands, or buts, no other acceptable pronounciation, it's "Coke"
HK or H&K is acceptable. Its just abbriviations. Like would you say AR or Armalite? M16A2 or Model # 16 Advancement # 2? G36 or Gewher # 36? |

I did (my wife) It is pronounced coke but with a weak H sound in front of the K.
There are no gagging or choking ach's in the word!!!! |

There is not equivlaent sounds in the English language. I had a German woman pronounce it for me once

Gentlemen, if you can say "Loch Ness" (Scottish) correctly, you are in business. Replace the "L" with an appropriate "K" sound, such as in "coke" and presto, correct pronounciation.
BTW, "KOCH" translated to english means "cook". But you are of course welcome to pronounce it any way you like... Just my $ .02 Regards from Old Europe Jake C. |
