I wasn't sure where to post this, GF discussion, F/A Club forum, so I'll post it here.


I remember reading the MG-42 was develped and ready for combat action in the late '30s. It was initially called the MG-39. My question is, were there ever any receivers stamped as such (MG-39) and were they identical to the later adopted MG-42?

Also, were/are any available for sale in The United States(MG-39), due to bring backs or otherwise?

GD, M16 or Armory...

The MG42 was made by Mauser, not HK...
