Looking @ picking up a ORF G3 w/ a stamped JLD reciever. It also has a stamped lower instead of plastic. Is this a good thing ?  What are the advantages/ disadvantages ?

Umm, disadvantages of the system or the rifle you are looking at?

The system has a few disadvantages.  1.  No bolt hold open.  AKA you gotta jack the bolt back to reload the gun when empty.  Not a big deal, but the bolt is a beotch to jack back.

2.  Magazine release sucks.  I have gotten it to the point that I can reload my G3K as fast as anything else (about 1 second.), but it still sucks.  the originals had a flapper that would drop the mag right in front of the trigger guard, but it's only sometimes there now.

3.  Mounting a scope?  Suck.  It's expensive to get either the good ARMS or HK mount, and the B&T isn't much cheaper.

As for the rifle, ORF makes the best.  You won't get any trouble off of it usually, and if you do Todd will fix it.
