I bought it from falparts.com....(aka Dans Sporting Goods..)..He said there was only a 1000 of them built...and he only had a few dozen left...prob a little more then some...it was $675.00 but the gun is like new and very tight..All parts are in great shape...and it meets all import rules...has 7 American parts in it..All the info I could find says the Imbel receiver was the way to go...this rifle has that and all Imbel parts...seems to be a great rifle...I am very Pleased with it...

Ah. An IMI M-444.
Good luck with it. Remember that the US parts include the magazine base and follower. Iof you want to legally be able to use any mag, swap the pistol grip and gas piston for US manufactured versions. |

I was told that the gas piston is not a part of the 18USC922 US compliant parts. Are you sure it is?
Wouldn't just replacing the pistol grip work since you need 6 US compliant parts anyway? Correct me if I'm wrong, I do need to know this for the build that I'm starting. |

The gas piston is definitely a compliance part in an FAL or AK build.
7 is with the US muzzle brake. The parts that qualify for an FAL: 1. receiver 2. hammer 3. trigger 4. sear 5. charging handle 6. gas piston 7. stock 8. pistol grip 9. handguards 10. bolt carrier 11. mag follower 12. mag baseplate I believe bolt and barrel also qualify, though I'm not 100% sure. Most people do: H/T/S, Charging handle, pistol grip, gas piston, US brake |

On this model
its the Pistol Grip Sear Hammer Trigger Floor Plate Mag Follower Muzzle Brake Thats 7...which complies with the 922 R law so i could sub the hand guards or stock.. prob in place of the mags......... he carries the mags with us floor plates and followers ,,,,,,just out of them at this moment.... |

You guys with the "other" black rifles need to go over to FALfiles and quit wasting our bandwidth here at AR15.com, home of the REAL Black Rifle
 I was impressed with Pappy's FAL. Real clean gun cant wait to shoot it. The gas piston is definately a part that could be switched out to a US part. That and the stock or foregrip replaced with a US made part would allow him to use ANY metric mag in the rifle. |
