I built this STG58 last year. I have another Fal with an ACOG on it. I just dont know which Optic to go with this time. I was thinking a EO 552 but I dont think I would have Iron sights also with the EO.  What suggestions do you guys have

I use an Aimpoint M2 or a Nikon 4x on mine.

The Aimpoint is really fun, fast and works very well out to 250yds or so.

The Nikon is not "Tactical" but is a really good optic for only $99.

I'm on a tight budget so that's all I've got to work with right now.

Nice FAL by the way,

IOR 4x24 30 MM Tactical with nato reticle. Millet low 30mm windage adjustable rings.
Awesome. Check out SWFA or DSA. The Dragunov reticle is great also.

Hensoldt ZF24 on a SARCO Imbel STANAG mount will give you a good 4x military scope with BDC and allow use of your irons. It's high, but it works, and it's a bargain.

I'd put a 2-7 or 1.75X6 Leupold VXII on it.  Low profile, plenty of magnification, lots of eye relief, and it's rugged as hell.  Not everything has to be 'tactical.'

I've got a CQ/T on one of my Fals...

I like it, but it has it's drawbacks.

I'd recommend an IOR or Meopta in the 1-4X var category.  My other Fal is wearing an NXS 2.5-10X24 and I LOVE that scope.  Might be more coin than you want to drop though.

Love my 1.75-6 VX-III.  It's been holding up well, but the QD rings can be an issue at times.

I'd shoot my eye out!  I owned an STG58 once and I'd be scared as hell to put a TA31 on there!  A TA11 definately, but 1.5" of eye relief would make me a little skittish if I had to do anything other than shooting off a bench!  YMMV.

The Hensoldt (Zeiss) ZF24 is $375 from Centerfire. Sell the mount for $75-$100 and then mount it for between $90-$200, depending on which way you go.

Classic answer would be a Trilux or Elcan (w/7.62 cam) for your FAL. It really depends on what type of shooting you are planning on doing. BSW

I'm partial to my Eotech:

Yes, it blocks the iron sights...which is why mine has a GGG quick release lever...if the sight goes south, I can get it off fast and shift to iron sights.
