OK, here is the deal, I have an old L1a1 that I am fixing up. It needs to have the front sight/gas system replaced and could definately stand to be refinnished, therefore I need to find a reputable smith to do the work. What do you guys think, anyone good you have dealt with? Thanks

Rich built my only FAL. I bought the rifle used on this board and contacted Rich prior to finalizing the purchase. He was a great guy and spent the time to let me know everything about the rifle as built by him and made a few recommendations for a FAL newbie. I would unhesitatingly send all my future FAL business his way.

I second that emotion! Rich built my Israeli carbine, and it is a work of art. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend him for ANY FAL work!

ETA: Slegehammer is also the man! Can't go wrong with either.

One day I have to get him to build me one of them tack-driver FALs I hear he makes. I know I can get better accuracy for other rifles with less money but something about the FAL just feels right to me and really enjoy shooting it more so than any other rifle I own.

I've had Derek at AZEX build me a AK before and I was very pleased. I've had Mark (ARS) build me an STG58 and wes extremely pleased.

You won't go wrong witheither smith, both have a commitment to quality and a very honest straightforward way of doing business. Without reservation I'd recommend either.
