Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - fal selector markings?

my freind has recently purchased a century r1a1 and i was looking it over wishing i had one when i noticed that the selector has 3 markings the first to were safe and fire but the third which could not be selected was an a. now i was under the impression that if it was marked as a "machine gun" then it is a no no.

Automatique.  FWIW, on a fal with a semi auto upper receiver, this setting will give you a single shot rifle.  Lower receivers don't matter on fals.  Its the uppers that count.

thanks for the info oh and i knew what the a stood for it was the second half of the answer i was looking for im not that new
