How to know the manufacture date of my StG58?    serial number: 33***

it's hard to say.
i've seen STG barrels with and without what would seem to be a 2 digit date stamped on the right side of the barrel near the breach, but the 'date' if in fact that's what it is doesn't correspond linearly to the serial # on my examples.
Steyr STG barrel #141592 has "60"
Steyr STG barrel #151108 has "66"
Steyr STG barrel #92079 has "74"
however, #92079 is also marked with an "E"
could this be short for "Ersetzung" or some other German word for "replacement?"
who knows?!

i need a bunch more STG barrels.....

I see 2 proof marks on the receiver near the barrel and there is also a 2 digit date. so that should be the manufacture date? I wasn't 100% sure about that.

Steyr STG # 33*** has "59"
